"Arriving into Temple, already dipped into the most sacred silence and the most daring sounds, not seeing but feeling the familiar faces and expert listeners was somehow intimidating, but also encouraging and exciting. I had prepared a hybrid live set, djing several recordings and reviewed old tracks i compiled through the year, on preparation of another live set for Mostra, and a sp404+FX full of sounds, sampled movies, sequences and patterns to fill the gaps and refill the most dance-oriented moments of the set so there could be a little more entropy and fun.

The idea was the "interruptus' vibe where full dances would be difficult but the movement and weird hand twists would arrive through extra filterings, complex pseudo beats and dub passages of the set.

The sound and gear at Espacio Perpendicular are also intimidating for those of us not used to such definition, so the experience was even more brilliant. Doing lo-fi processes into a hi-fi system is such bless.

Ronny Pinazza (@ronny_pinazza) tries to convey the feeling of the infinite timelessness of the soul of nature with music in an understandable language. His DJ sets are always driving, ritualistic. Natural sounds and hypnotic melodies allow the listener to reach another state of consciousness. His productions are experimental, unorthodox. Hypnotic rhythms and driving beats characterize his tracks, always filled with natural sounds. The listener is transported in a space that seems to exist between the stars. Deep in his heart he believes in infinity and that time and space are only imaginations. His goal is to express these inner feelings with music, so in 2021 he set out to develop his musical language. Ronny Pinazza has released 2 EPs on Cellar Door records, EP and single on MDivision Group Records. Collaborated on VAs on Indefinite Pitch, Initiate Records, Free Palestine Charity VA, Linee Sonore. Josephine’s Soundscapes is José Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. In his musical endeavors, he functions as a DJ, radio host, promoter, and programmer in clubs and institutions, as well as in projects of various kinds. He works partly through his independent promoter cell, a_mal_gam_a, together with Diskoan, and partly alone or as part of other projects such as CALMA, Temple at Espacio Perpendicular, or Radio Relativa, among others.

Since the death of Phill Niblock last January, I have been completing this selection, using his work as a starting point.

It's an exercise in musical evasion, working like a slide into the void. A composition based on layers of drone music and minimalist compositions, fitted into this small project of mine, the series of mixes titled 'Vanishing Point: Music to Fade Away'. Musical artifacts to stop being there.

I suggest conducting the listening exercise in the best possible conditions, taking a break from everything else, alone or in good company, with the volume up, allowing your mind to drift.

EMC welcomes Joan Gila!

Joan Gila, a vinyl enthusiast, is the curator of @hoc-radio and also manages a small cassette label focused on ambient, avant-garde, and experimental music called @red-edge-label. He is part of the duo @binomi with his friend @slim-jordi.
This DJ set was recorded in Madrid at the Temple event, curated by @machines-desirantes and @javier-camunas, which takes place at @espacio-perpendicular, an intimate venue with exquisite sound. This particular set is Temple 03 featuring @hardcore-chillout, and it's an exercise in mixing and merging an older record from around the 80s with a new one, playing with them in such a way that the listener doesn’t know where they are.

Barry Ashworth front man of the Dub Pistols and old friend of NuNorthern Soul boss Phat Phil Cooper, turns in a great downtempo mix for us.
Sometimes you have to go through the mill to realise why you were put on this Earth. So it is with the Dub Pistols, the reggae-breaks-jungle mashup, the gangster-swaggering festival stalwarts whose rollercoaster story reads like a rock’n’roll cautionary tale on a grand scale. When big beat ruled the clubs the Pistols were snapped up for $1.5m by legendary Interscope magnate Jimmy Iovine and anointed Geffen Records’ priority act for America. But Geffen put their album out the week that 9/11 happened, so the Dub Pistols ended up broke and label-less instead of US superstars. This is how it happens. They get knocked down — but they get back up!!!

This mix represents the true spirit of Jah! The Rastafari Elders – Bongo shep, if you are familiar or curious about the Rastafari culture this is a great album to own.The album is a mix of Nyahbinghi chants/ hymns and Rasta Elders reasoning, making for a very powerful and insightful body of work. It was sampled on Thievery Corporation: 2001, a spliff odyssey. Located in France, High tone have been making dub infused music, filled with vocal samples and foreign instruments for over 20 years. The American poet and lyricist William S. Burroughs was remixed by Dub Spencer and Trance on the album In dub. In a quality dub trademark, they use a vast array of mixing dub techniques and his unique voice to create a masterpiece of chilled dubby vibes! Michael George Campbell (4 June 1954 – 15 March 2008), better known as Mikey Dread, was a Jamaican singer, producer, and broadcaster. He was one of the most influential performers and innovators in reggae music. Saturday night style is on the album African anthem which features Robbie Shakespeare (Sly & Robbie), Augusto Pablo & King Tubby. On the model dub, Prince Fatty delivers a stunning cover of Kraftwerk’s electro pop in dub. See mi ya (I See you in Jamaican patois) – Riddim mix combines multiple Rhythm & Sound tracks such as See mi ya, Dem never know, Free for all, and Let Jah love come. Bandulu and Jam&Spoon were mostly known for their techno tracks but Paul Daley aka of Leftfield fame here delivers a stunning unreleased mix of Heart of Africa. Babe Roots is a new act that has released an album on Linear movement: Sun is shining sang here by Milly James is a cover of Bob Marley.

Appleblim’s Circling is one of the best releases on Skull disco, more known for Dubstep. On Rise again, legendary Dominica born MC Paul St-Hilaire delivers another smooth chant to accompany Deadbeat two step dub production.
