Coalescing together in an emotive dance, these eloquent elements comprise the foundation of JakoJako's approach to music. Whether you find her deeply engrossed in her modular system, performing live at Berghain as a part of the Leisure System crew, or working behind the counter at the legendary Berlin synth shop SchneidersLaden, her profound knowledge and passion for translating her external and internal worlds into sonic anomalies permeate throughout everything she does. 

Versatility and virtuosity are the common threads woven into her productions, such as her recent album with Unrush founder Mareena Altas Der Gedanken on Muzan Editions. The same can be said for her mix here, which features everything from traditional southern Laotian music to øjeRum and Steve Roach. As a close friend and collaborator of Unrush, her contribution is long overdue. We couldn't conceive of a better artist to bring us into the warmer months with a glimmer of hope and a glimpse into the infinite...

Andy Martin (@andy-martin) is one of my favourite musical discoveries from the last few years. A while back, after hearing an iconic tune he made called "Revolution" featuring Lee Scratch Perry, I was excited about his music, and also learning more about him as an artist. Andy is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, with Jamaican and Mexican roots.

Whilst I was touring Mexico, we shared a few gigs together, and all the locals referred to him as "the best in the country", which I can completely understand. Since discovering Andy's music I've been hooked on his productions, an incredible fuse of old school and new school dub techno, underpinned by influences from his heritage which flourish in the form of exciting percussion & unique, emotional melodies. 

On top of this, Andy is very humble, and  a very talented DJ, and I'm super happy to host him in the series.

Technology as the number one source of inspiration. Real time musical programming, unlimited improvisation and experimentation. Stretching the boundaries of electronic music.
Atom™ and Tobias. have been two key figures in the development of European ‘techno’ from the very beginning. Active since the 1980s, both artists have represented major cogs in the community. 1990 marks their first collaborative performance in Frankfurt, emerging as one of the first live shows ever played within this scene. From here the two started a journey of sonic explorations which led them to release the mighty “Elektroniikkaa” live recording from Helsinki and Montreux. Their subsequent releases are all derivatives of live performances, which consistently remain the number one focus.

Despite a spatial separation given by Atom’s relocation to Chile and Tobias’ to Berlin, upon reconnecting with the machines in 2003 creative flow surged spontaneously. Throughout the expressive tool of live performance, Atom™ and Tobias are able to create sound through an eccentrical deviation from all musical standards and a total adaptation to their environment.

This is the core of their improvisations: a total abandonment to each other's creativity, in which their consciousnesses merge and flow into the instruments in front of them.
Having both experienced three decades of music and some of the world’s most exceptional dance floors such as Berghain or Panorama Bar, their knowledge of the sonic realm is limitless. Their latest performances have reached clubs such as Kyiv’s Closer to Japan’s Labyrinth Festival in Japan.

For our series Refracted contributes a mix true to his signature style, crystalline and patiently layered with unwavering intent, drawing across decades and genres to invite us into a divine state of mind.
