This project has developed different facets, including a career as an interpreter and audio producer when experimenting with a wide variety of musical sequences. It seeks the integration of oscillating interpersonal ideas among the variety of solid conceptions. This project also defines the transformation of the artist that has developed under different aliases for many years.

Each interpretation is made to create an atmosphere based on sound art, generative art and Techno in its different variations.

Mysteries Of The Deep XXVIII - ALESSANDRO CORTINI

This morning, I am spending time with Joachim Spieth, who is releasing his new album, Retrace, tomorrow, October 4th, via his own Affin imprint. Spieth's particular flavour of ambient dub should be familiar to those following the annual Pop Ambient series curated by Wolfgang Voigt. A few years ago, I premiered a track off his incredibly textured Ousia album, which I subsequently proclaimed as one of the best of the year in my Music For Being Together Alone list. Since then, I have been truly captivated by his aquatic ebb and flow, heavily layered with introspective, deeply oceanic, slow tidal ambience, which tends to calm the mind by spreading its evolving soundscapes into the distant unknown. Spieth's further explorations, like Terrain (2022) and his collaboration with Markus Guentner on Overlay (2023), continued to appear in my annual celebrations of favourite music. So, it shouldn't be surprising that I'm premiering his latest track for you. On Retrace, his carefully balanced sonic expansions are complimented by hypnotic rhythms and heartbeat-echoing low-rumbling bass. "Like glittering drops of water, the sound elements combine to slowly filter through sonic biotopes until they extend across the spectrum in full frequency." Perfectly curated as a soundtrack for any time of your day, these seven pieces will guide you back into the meaning of this reality if you follow the journey, listen, and breathe.

As the autumn season gently unfurls, bringing cooler days and longer nights, we often find ourselves drawn indoors, where the world slows down just a bit. This time of year invites moments of introspection and the soothing balm of stress relief, creating the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in calming and tranquil sounds. 

Unrush is pleased to welcome Low Velocity Soundsystem from Leipzig & Halle to this journey. Since debuting in 2018 as part of the event series “Time To Get Lost” in Halle, LVS has cultivated a space beyond the dance floor, inspired by the legendary 90s chill-out rooms. Gregor and John have created a musical environment where ambient textures converge with trip-hop, drone, techno, and dub, revealing a deep appreciation for atmosphere and mood.

Gregor is part of the team at Connwax, which hosts a long-standing label night at Leipzig’s IfZ, while John hosts the Folding Realities radio show on Callshop Radio, also working as a live-act and producer. Both bring their unique personalities to the track selection, blending their expansive music collections with a genuine and passionate spirit.

This set reflects their vibe—a unique blend of ambient-dub, drawing subtle connections to the club scene, and tinged with a delicate hint of melancholy. Without much discussion beforehand, they found themselves aligned, crafting a curation that speaks to the introspective side of the season. So sit back, breathe deeply, and let the sounds guide you through a moment of calm...

Dasha Rush is a Russian born artist who sees the genre as a starting place not a destination. She is a respected and well-travelled DJ and live performer, but her work is equally focussed away from the dance floor, and sometimes away from music itself. Her recent album for Raster-Noton, Sleepstep, could be a metaphor for her work: "These 16 pieces are transmissions from that state between sleep and wakefulness," said Tony Naylor, a reflection of the in-between zones her music often inhabits. Dubby but intense, brutal but tender, foggy yet clear—Sleepstep was a wonderful mass of contradictions. Not being one thing or the other is vitally important to Rush, which goes hand-in-hand with her strong independent streak. The majority of the music she's released since starting out in 2005 has come through her own Fullpanda label and, as she told us in 2013, she's resistant to playing the publicity game in the way many in the scene do. That's meant she's remained off the radar for some techno fans, but it's also given her the freedom to explore projects and sounds as she pleases. With all this mind, it was little surprise that our invitation to record a podcast was met with, "Yes, but it won't be a club mix." What we got instead was an absorbing 65 minutes of dense ambient soundscapes that shows Rush at her most reflective. The mix comes ahead of the North American premiere of Antarctic Takt, Rush's A/V show with Stanislav Glazov, at this week's Mutek festival in Montreal.

Bio:

Matthias Springer is involved in the electronic music scene since the late 1990’s, always very versatile in choosing the sound he likes and plays. He feels comfotable in a lot of very different genres, from experimental electronica, to deep house and dub techno, always with the influence of acid and Detroit elements.

Matthias’ producing a very varied and unique kind of electronic music, also under using his moniker Aksutique, releasing on a lot of different labels such as Eintakt, TicTacToe, Parquet, Pantamuzik, Hypnotic Room, Plusquam and Deeptakt, just to name a few. Since 2010 he runs his own label Diametral including the sublabels DimbiDeep Music, Wohnzimmermusik, zerO413 and the vinyl only imprint Turmfalke.
