Next up on the Westival Selects Series we've got avid Jungle heads, Local Group.

Reconstituted from chewing gum, half-empty baggies and DNA scraped off of a thousand worn dance floors, Local Group are LMajor and Corporeal Face. Residents at UK festival Field Maneuvers, where they channel Hardcore, Breakbeat, Garage, and Jungle into an atemporal rave sound, their 2018 ‘Laser Dome’ EP was a homage to the Sputnik tent they play in at FM.

Following releases on Corrupt Data, Secret Rave, Human Concrete Block and Dead Trax, up next they've got a four-track EP on 1Ø PILLS MATE that comes with a remix from Angel D’lite, with the favour returned by a Local Group remix on Angel D’lite's forthcoming EP on Ritual Poison.

We're absolutely delighted to have these guys on the series, and even more excited that they'll be closing out one of the nights at Westival this year. If there was anyone to encapsulate The Dome sound, it would be these lads.

When we first heard Local Group doing their thing one afternoon at a "Dirty little rave" 😜in a field near Oxford, it was love at first dance.

A few years, radio show, gigs and lockdowns down the line and they have kindly kindly offered up just over an hour of high energy goodness to kickstart our much awaited Spa Day mix series. 

Big shouts to you both for the mix we canny wait to see you in the dance or at the helm of a proper system once again.

Spa Day 001: Local Group (Jungle Mix)

We welcome the Local Group duo to the Global Mix series today as they bring their fusion of UK sounds, including garage, jungle and breakbeat to our Global Mix series airwaves.

Local Group consist of London based DJs and producers Corporeal Face & LMajor, both heavily inspired by everything the UK sounds have to offer. The duo's sets include everything from the sounds of garage, jungle, hardcore, happy hardcore though to breakbeat and electro.

With a stack of  releases on labels such as Corrupt Data, Secret Rave, Human Concrete Block and Dead Trax, and more recently their rave and hardcore inspired 4-track EP entitled, 'Big Beats Are The Best', which included a remix from Angel D’lite, it's fair to say they're consistent with their output. 

The Field Maneuver residents provide us with our latest Global Mix in our ever growing series, with an hour of their signature sounds to soundtrack our afternoon.

International Tribe is a weekly mix series hosted by Thris Tian.

This week’s International Tribe mix comes from duo Local Group.

Reconstituted from chewing gum, half-empty baggies and DNA scraped off of a thousand worn dancefloors, Local Group are LMajor and Corporeal Face. Residents at the celebrated small UK festival, Field Maneuvers, in Oxford, they showcase rave-influenced sounds, ranging from speed garage to hardcore.

Their release schedule is beginning to grow following 2018’s ‘Laser Dome’ EP on Ritual Poison and last year’s ’Inside Out’, out on Secret Rave with the self-explanatory ‘Fresh Rhythms’ EP arriving on Human Concrete Block. Their mix for international tribe continues the roving rave sound that has seen Local Group play alongside DJs from Eris Drew to Grooverider.

‘The mix features All time influences next to dubs from the freshest new names served with a heaping of favourites that have had heavy rotation. Includes a speed garage section time-travelling back to Field Maneuvers 2019.’

Martyn draws from his roots with deep, genre-spanning percussive sounds for the 200th mix in our series. Operating independently of genres and bpm, his mix offers lots of fresh perspective on a typically UK club sound, with an array of hefty selections extending from techno to drum and bass. It's with this seemingly effortless style and inventiveness that Martyn's sound continues to appeal to a broad range of dance music selectors and fans.
