Following the huge success of his debut album ‘Caligo’, Spor has hooked up with powerhouse producer Memtrix to present ‘Memtrix & Spor: Darkest Hours’ forthcoming on Sotto Voce/Lifted Music.  The track will be released on 14th September. 

‘Darkest Hours’ begins with a stream of deep cinematic melodies progressing into a melting pot of cutting-edge bass sonics and crisp drum grooves; accompanied by ambient vocals. The B-side entitled ‘Super Trace’ unfolds as a dark roller combined with sharp percussion sounds, certain to get a dance floor moving.

With over 1 million views on his track ‘All You Are’ on YouTube and over 5 releases under his belt at the age of 19, this is the start of a long journey in the world of drum & bass for Memtrix. "Working with Spor has definitely been an eye opening and insightful experience,” he says, “but I think more than that it's just been really fun. It always seems really natural and fluent in the studio and we bounce ideas off each other really well I think. Obviously it's an absolute privilege for me to work with such a household name who's work I respect so much, and this release is something I'm really proud of and excited about."

Memtrix & Spor - Darkest Hours

With ADE looming on the horizon, it only seemed apt for Ram to yet again provide the perfect drum and bass entrée for Europe’s premium dance event. Set to bring another stellar line up from their roster, this compilation packed full of exclusives helps to epitomise the imprint’s legacy within dance music. Including brand new cuts, demonstrating the Ram’s longevity, this album plays homage to two decades of output. 

Leading you deeper into the dark side of 2015, this year’s Ramsterdam compilation not only pedestals the artists who’ve made such a titanic impact throughout the last ten months, but also the emerging talent from sister label Program and Ram’s newest signees. Whether it’s the old school, growling riddim from Aggressor Bunx, or Calyx & TeeBee’s tell-tale, trembling bassline, each track gives the album a unique vantage point.

Featuring on the collosal track listing is Delta Heavy; an exclusive which relays their elevating, pumping composition, it’s a dancefloor banger sure to detonate any crowd. And Frankee also makes a welcomed return, following the release of his anticipated single ‘Downtown’. ‘Raptor’ is unforgiving, snapped up by different animalistic samples and stridently aggressive – pedestalling Frankee’s unforgiving production standards.

On a totally different vibe, Freek is back with ‘Born Different’, a clanking yet powerful number, one which gears up into LFO-lead chaos with snapping percussion between each break. Brand new music from production outfits Teddy Killerz and Mind Vortex also make a very valuable addition, proving their unbridled talent, with merciless yet complex records that are fierce and gagging to be let loose on Amsterdam’s clubs.  
Two of this year’s most resounding tracks from the Ram camp, Bensley’s ‘Aftermath’ and Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S.’ have also received revamps, providing two anticipated VIPs already igniting sets worldwide. Future Retro opens up with gritty bass and widescreen synths that wash over the groove and then Africa brings more afro tinged drums, Better Life is dark and edgy with a spraying synth line and Dogon Tribe then gets you in a trance with the lush chords. Rave in Sahara is hard-hitting and moody, with grainy chords and gritty textures, then tracks like African Rage and Future Acid show the range of this pair as they serve up more peak-time cuts with searing acid lines and bouncing drums. After the tense and adventurous Carthage with its gauzy chords, Decadence closes out with hands in the air.

This is a coherent and complete album that really takes you on a deep and cosmic techno voyage.'

Long time underground stalwart Magdelena continues to flourish with a superb new EP on Digweed’s legendary Bedrock label.
Magdelena has come up through the Hamburg scene and gone on to international acclaim. She opened and helped to run the city's EGO club with Solomun and Adriano Trolio - who also started the Diynamic label - and went on to become a core part of the family with her standout DJ sets. She soon moved on to producing her own music and then her own show on Ibiza Sonica and residency at Cova Santa in Ibiza. Her own SHADOWS party has also brought real class to venues all over the world and now after further releases on Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion imprint, and others, she brings more heat to Bedrock.
Sublime opener 'Outlines' is an emotional six minute journey with lush chord sequences riding up and down the scales. They bring light and a majestic sense of elegance to the deep rooted grooves and are sure to get clubs in motion. The more moody and direct 'Lifelines' has a darker edge, with tension in the synths and somberness in the organ chords as well as real power in the rolling kick drums that will cast a spell on all who hear them. Last of all is 'Voices', a turbulent deep techno track that has an epic breakdown and oriental melodies ringing out over booming bass. Dramatic and epic, it is a suitably standout closer.

Following the release of “Quintessence Vol. 4”, Inner Symphony is releasing the Remix Edition; a further exploration into the themes and ideas introduced in the original version.

The release begins with a Rustboy remix of Soul Button’s “Synchronicity”, taking the melodic theme of the original and placing it into a more percussive soundscape. Tamas Skafar’s remix of “Papicha” by Mashk, follows a steady track that blends smoothly into the next song which is a remix of his own track, “Farewell Gift” done by James Marley. The fourth track, Anders.’ “Toulouse”, remixed by Soul Button, plunges immediately into a positive, high energy state. Rustboy’s own track “Fermi Paradox”, is then remixed by SEVN, who gives a more ethereal touch to the original. The release closes off with “Valhalla” by James Marley, remixed by Anders. and “Solace” by SEVN remixed by Mashk. Both remixes give to the originals a delicate feel as they evolve between uplifting and melancholy tones.

This detailed Remix Edition invites multiple listens, taking the mood from the previous release and giving an entirely different approach to the Quintessence series.
