Inspired by the legend John Carpenter and the fact Dr Loomis was dark

I saw this photo of a somewhat quaint-looking duck, and this piece came into my mind along with quacking sounds (the opening motive portrays this). This duck has its own unique world and enjoys living in it as he rides his bicycle around, going faster and faster. Although the piece contains shady harmonies to reflect the darker tint in this photo, I would say that this piece is a celebration of the whimsical duck’s life and freedom.

Diese Komposition widme ich dem katalanischen Baumeister Antoni Gaudi und seinem großen Bauwerk „Sagrada Familia“

Ein Verwandte erzählte mir staunend von der Besichtigung dieser Basilika.
Dabei zeigte sie mir viele schöne Fotos dieser wunderschönen Kirche.
Ein Foto habe ich als Motiv-Cover für meine Veröffentlichung dieser Komposition verwendet.

Der Bau wurde im Jahre 1882 begonnen und wird voraussichtlich im Jahre 2026 zum 100. Todestages Antonio Gaudi fertiggestellt sein. Somit hätte die Vollendung dieses sacralen Bauwerks 144 Jahren gedauert.
Dies ist für ein derart monumentales Bauwerk eine recht kurze Bauzeit, wenn man bedenkt,
dass die Erbauung des Kölner Doms  vom Architekt „Meister Gerhard“ 632 Jahre bis zur Vollendung benötigte. 

Antoni Gaudi war auch ein sehr gläubiger Mensch.
Seine Vision die Erschaffung eines Sühnetempel der Heiligen Familie.
Auf die Unmöglichkeit einer baldigen Fertigstellung angesprochen, antwortete Gaudi:
„Meine Kunde hat keine Eile“

Auf diesen Satz hin bezieht sich auch meine inspirierte Komposition.
Die Vision eines sacralen Klangwerks.
In diesem Sinne hat auch meine musikalische Arbeit keine Eile.

"Holy" "Sacre" "Sagrada" (07/03/2023)


I dedicate this composition to the Catalan master builder Antoni Gaudi and his great building "Sagrada Familia"

A relative told me in amazement about visiting this basilica.
She showed me many beautiful photos of this beautiful church.
I used a photo as a motif cover for my publication of this composition.

Construction began in 1882 and is expected to be completed in 2026 on the 100th anniversary of Antonio Gaudi's death. Thus, the completion of this sacred structure would have taken 144 years.
This is quite a short construction time for such a monumental structure, considering
that the construction of the Cologne Cathedral by the architect "Master Gerhard" needed 632 years to complete.

Antoni Gaudi was also a very religious person.
His vision of creating a temple of expiation for the Holy Family.
Asked about the impossibility of an early completion, Gaudi replied:
"My client is in no hurry"

My inspired composition also refers to this sentence.
The vision of a sacred sound work.
In this sense, my musical work is not in a hurry.

Well I was minding my business on a friday night
When the door started knocking it was pretty light. 

I was still wondering what to do, my dog was barking like a didgereroo. 

The  zombies are coming, oh yeah, the zombies  are coming 

There was a loud bang from outside and a zombie in through the window side. 

Oh my dear what to do, my partner knew,  my partner knew, she'd watched every zombie film to timbuktu. And now i wish that i had too. 

The zombies are coming, the zombies are coming 

Now it was pretty clear from my point of view, without being tooled up, i was a gonna too. I looked around and acted real fast, and smashed their brain with the dog's breakfast 

The zombies are coming, oh yeah, the zombies are coming 

Now Kathy was the expert, but she was still at work. So me and my dog did the best we could. We raided the shed for any thing we could get and blocked the door with our bed. 

Now Kathy came blasting through the door, with a plan to save us all.  She told us stories of all the walking dead and detailed how to smash their heads. 

Her samarai sword still dripping wet, still dripping wet. 

I looked on amazed again, as she packed supplies into the stolen plane. She said jump in and flew us all to a distant island. 

We left the zombies behind to devour the planet 

And that is now where we reside in a paradise safe from the world's demise. We learned pretty fast that the world wouldn't last but hey we were having a blast. 

The zombies were coming, and we left them behind 

And we couldn't be happier, the end.

This is a lighthearted and Romantically-inclined piece that is inspired by my little daughter who is into all “pretty things” in this world like flowers, raindrops and butterflies. Watching her humming and coloring papers freely without a care in the world, I feel like I can relive such moments of my life again.

The sad dirty snow outside the window gathers trembling whiteness and the footprints disappear as though nobodies ever been here
Needles climb back up the pine tree that grows in the corner of the room and trinkets fill once empty boxes all patterned and bright and impossible to know
The dead walk backwards through carnival lit houses; plightless, warm and smiling like nobody smiles anymore

I am a classical pianist based in Canada. Many of the pieces I upload here are for  solo piano. Some are performed by me, but the performances of the recent uploads are created on Staffpad app on my iPad.
