My comment minutes ago has not saved (as it sometimes happens)... I was saying that the theme, poetry, music and singing were unique to the deep emotion in Eric's style! (And wasn't there an earlier version of this song on SC, I have some imperfect recollection?...)

A very powerful outpouring and I hope cathartic for the sensitive soul you are.  The song is a powerful lesson; there are some opportunities we can't have back, but if we can learn from them and help others to be aware of those around them, especially the silent battles they are fighting.

Save Me

Whilst transfering files from my laptop to my new computer I came across this unfinished project I'd started just before the first lockdown. Then along with my other problems concerning my hearing this was another that got put on hold. Originally written for a vocal  which because of life sadly did'nt work out I decided to  add some guitar, a string ensemble and a horn section to fill out the sound. I'm happy I found it. I hope you enjoy and thanks for all your great support!!

Vincent Willem van Gogh (March 30, 1853 – July 29, 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created approximately 2100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life.  Only one of his paintings was known by name to have been sold during his lifetime.  In the aftermath of the December 23rd, 1888 breakdown that resulted in the self-mutilation of his left ear, Van Gogh voluntarily admitted himself to the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole lunatic asylum on May 8th, 1889.  During the year Van Gogh stayed at the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the prolific output of paintings he had begun in Arles continued.  During this period, he produced some of the best-known works of his career, including the “The Starry Night”.  Van Gogh had the subject of a blue night sky dotted with yellow stars in mind for many months before he painted the picture.  Some of the elements, such as the mountains in the distance and the existence of the village are true to the view van Gogh would have seen from his window; meanwhile, many other parts, such as the church, are imagined.  Van Gogh wrote to Theo: "It would be so simple and would account so much for the terrible things in life, which now amaze and wound us so, if life had yet another hemisphere, invisible it is true, but where one lands when one dies." "Hope is in the stars," he wrote, but he was quick to point out that "earth is a planet too, and consequently a star, or celestial orb." He stated flatly that “The Starry Night” was "not a return to the romantic or to religious ideas."  On July 27th, 1890, aged 37, Van Gogh shot himself in the chest.  The shooting may have taken place in the wheat field in which he had been painting, or in a local barn.
