Music Style: Jazzy House/Housey Jazz. I&rsquo;ve been collecting records since I was about 12 and was inspired by the likes of Mastermind, Rapattack, Les Adams and Froggy, who all mixed in such a way that just blew me away and got me hooked on underground dance music. I started mixing by using a tape deck and a belt drive turntable and learnt to mix and scratch my tunes like that, by pushing the tape and phono buttons in at the same time. This is something I do not recommend, as I had to get my Dad&rsquo;s amp repaired far too many times. I got to try out my newfound skills at the tender young of 13, when I was at one of my elder sister&rsquo;s friend&rsquo;s party and the Dj had to go home and get another crate of records. He said to me, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s all yours, shouldn&rsquo;t be too long&hellip;.&rdquo; After playing for a about three hours, I realised I could do the things my idols did and the things I did at home very easily with two turntables and I could also make people dance. I&rsquo;d got the bug! Since then I have played at many events world wide watching the scene change, being part of the original house explosion in the UK, playing at the groundbreaking raves like Sunrise, Energy and Biology to name but a few. The music I play now is heavily influenced by jazz, something that I put down to the music I was fed by my parents as a young child, the likes of Grover Washington, Stanley Turentine, Dizzy, James Brown, Quincy Jones, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and also soca, reggae, hi life, funk and soul and disco, an eclectic mix of black music to whet any young boys appetite for music. I currently present &ldquo;A Nu Breed Of Jazz&rdquo; on PushFm each and every Thursday 20.00 - 22.00 GMT and am resident at the House Of Rhythm and play at various parties in and around London. Am also currently reworking many of the tunes I have produced over the years and starting new ones.

Neil Pierce Biography

Neil Pierce may be known as a DJ, Producer, Remixer and Label Manager but all these titles can be summed up with one thing in common – he is a name you can rely on for good quality soulful house music you can dance to.  Playing exclusives to classics, gospel to dubs, Neil’s DJ sets are full of energy that never fail to take you on a musical journey that will have you smiling and letting loose on the dance floor.

It was whilst Neil was the Manager of Release the Groove record shop in London’s Soho that he began to make his way in the industry and became friends with many of the people that he would eventually play alongside.  It wasn’t long before Neil was DJing at legendary nights such as Garage City and Paul Trouble Anderson’s Loft parties in Camden.


In 2001, a new night was launched at the infamous Ministry of Sound super-club in London.  That night was Soul Heaven and it soon became a club night synonymous with playing quality house music with soul.  It is of no surprise then that not long after its launch, Neil was asked to be a Soul Heaven resident.  Nearly a decade later and Neil continues to be part of the Soul Heaven nights representing the brand in the UK and Worldwide.

In 2003, Neil partnered up with fellow Soul Heaven resident Aaron Ross as producers under the name Fanatix.  Since their collaboration, they have made a name for themselves by working with some amazing artists such as Blaze, Kimara Lovelace, KOT, Kenny Bobien, Roy Ayers and Stephanie Cooke, as well as homegrown talents, Terri Walker, Kele le Roc, Jamiroquai, Alex Mills, Don-E and Sunburst Band.  Recognition for their music came with releases on respected major ‘house’ labels including Sony, Defected, BBE, Ricanstruction, ZR, Def Jam, Soulgroove and of course Soul Heaven Records.

In March 2008, Fanatix released their debut album, There It Is on London based label BBE to great critical acclaim and the No. 1 spot on Traxsource. The album was raved about from all the top Dj’s in the scene, and it was also licenced to Toys Factory in Japan.
 
During this time, Neil also found time to work on some solo projects.  In 2005 he set up his own label Hustle Music which most famously is responsible for originally signing The Way You Love Me by Ron Hall & The Muthafunkas featuring Marc Evans which is now a house classic.

Neil’s reputation for recognizing and pioneering good music continued to grow and in 2009 he was the obvious choice to replace Aaron Ross as Label Manager at Soul Heaven Records.  As well as finding new up and coming artists and music, this gave Neil the opportunity to put out his own music and in 2010, his debut solo record Relish Your Soul performed by Kadija Kamara was released on Soul Heaven Records.  Written by Neil, Kadija and Mike Patto (Reel People) this cutting edge soulful house track received huge support from DJs worldwide.

In May 2013 Neil and Ziggy Launched Rhemi Music .Their first release (a remix of a the classic “call on me “ by Fanatix  reached number number 2 on the singles chart on traxsource and from there it’s snowballed like crazy. In just a few years they have had countless Number 1 hits including the club anthems “Diamond”, ‘Mask Off” ‘Back to the one” and ‘Shake Your Body Down”.and they have remixed for Joey Negro, Dj Spen, Louie Vega and Sandy Rivera to name but a few. Rhemi also released their first compilation on Dj Spen’s Quantize Recordings.

2017 is set to be a massive year for Neil, with non-stop studio commitments as well as his Deep Into Soul Party at the POW packed to capacity every month, and a string of releases on countless labels, he is definitely one to watch !

Phil Weeks is a house music purist. Whether DJing or producing, the Parisian with the huge personality delivers raw beats influenced in equal measure by
classic Chicago house and nu‐school French flair, underpinned with a hip‐hop attitude. His long running Robsoul Recordings also defines him as one of the
most skilled label heads in underground house music.
In the studio Phil is dedicated to classic hardware like Akai’s MPC 3000 sampler and Roland’s TR909 drum machine. He has released more than 250 tracks and
remixes since his debut in 2000, working with labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which
is responsible for the majority of his original output. 

Phil’s work can also be found in the collaborations Fries & Bridges (with Hector Moralez) and PS Project/Bubba Beats & Kid Piston (with DJ Sneak). Production highlights include Phil’s three albums ‘Love Affair’ (2011), ‘Yeah I Like That’ (2003) and ‘Raw Instrumental’ (2012), alongside style‐defining singles ‘Hypnose’, ‘It Put Me Well’ and ‘All Day Every Day’. The music has been
heavily supported by international dance press including achieving accolades such as MixMag’s and De‐Bug’s ‘Album Of The Month’, while DJs ranging from
Danny Howells and Yousef to Mark Farina and DJ Sneak consistently play his tracks. Behind the decks, Phil has racked up enough air miles to take him around the
world several times over, with appearances at the world’s leading house clubs ‐ Queen’s Club, Sankeys, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics and Stereo are
all regular haunts, alongside his Paris residency ‘Get Underground’ at the infamous Rex Club.

Phil has also fully embraced the relationship with his fans and house music fans in general – whether through his popular ‘Underground Chronicles’ video diaries
on Youtube or his personal relationships on Facebook.
Despite his success Phil isn’t one to brag. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to prove Phil Weeks is a house music purist.
