A bitter-sweet, nostalgic song about leaving London to live elsewhere. Based on an unpublished memoir by Gerry Verdier; with lyrics by Michael Sellers & Gerry Verdier. The song is set in Balham, an area in south London, England.

The exclamation of surprise, disbelief, or excitement "Oh my days", which was in fact the initial catalyst in the writing of this song, was, according to The Oxford English Dictionary, "first recorded in 1895, and my days (in ‘Law, my days!’) in 1841, but it remained relatively rare until the twenty-first century. Although its recent revival in popularity—especially associated with its use in Multicultural London English—is sometimes said to have its origins in Caribbean usage, conclusive evidence for Caribbean roots for this resurgence has proved hard to find."

You can find the full write up with credits below but I first wanted to say how much fun it was working with Jeff on this one.  He's incredibly supportive and super creative so it's always a joy making music with him!

This song originated with Jeff, who wrote a poem, which he set to a beat and a key with some very cool vocal processing. He sent it to Josh, who added the bass and the synth lines. Josh, of course, got the rest of the Eclectic Collective involved. Ken came up with a solid, distinct beat, based loosely on Josh's first take. Josh then redid his bass line to match up with Ken's drums, which is the way they seem to work best, sometimes going back and forth like that several times until they're locked in. Then, Tez and I each added very distinct, supportive guitar tracks to fill it in. Tez comes through with the very Strat sounding bells ringing throughout. I really shines with his textural tremolo playing throughout, as well as the rocking end. I also produced and mixed it expertly, as always. 
  This is the first time the Eclectic Collective has collaborated with Jeff, although both Josh and especially me (as part of the band, The Smoking Trout) have made music with him before. We really enjoyed making a song based on his vocals, and Jeff is a welcome addition to our sound anytime. We all really enjoyed making this one. We hope you enjoy listening to it.

I wrote this song with Bubba Maddux late last year and just finished it up. We both worked on the music and the lyrics together and I played the instruments and Bubba Sang the song! He did an outstanding job singing it since the song has 5 key changes and is very difficult to sing! It's sounds a bit like a child of Pink Floyd and David Bowie, very futuristic. Well, maybe not so futuristic the way AI is taking over everything! The video is on YouTube and it's pretty mind-blowing, Hope everyone enjoys it, Cheers!🖖

Hi everybody, my name is Jim and I’m a songwriter, I've written over 300 songs, I play guitar, bass, piano, and am a pretty good lyricist.
