French musicians Alban Mercier (https://soundcloud.com/officiumofficium  https://soundcloud.com/endedforlife) and Eric Desjeux (Tzii) team up after years of friendship for a 9-tracks collaborative album. The duo’s first recording attempt is a highly evocative and melancholic album based on the pair personal archives, techniques and souvenirs. A collection of twisted voices, haunting synths and percussions combining Tzii’s composition skills with Officium’s field recordings, chant and bleak approch of sound.

“WATCHING MYSELF FORGET WITH NO RESISTANCE” is an intimate research on perception, memory and inward visions : sometimes violent, yet poetic and definitely elegiacal.

‘Soleil Tartare’ is Dim Garden’s debut album on Rotterdam’s young label Yarrow Ballet. This five-track EP embodies both the depths of Hades’ underworld and Helios’ realm. The album is a worship of the metaphysical side of nature. The opening track, ‘Cunning Morose’ evokes incandescence and sun worship. Its propulsive 808 beat and lofty vocals conjure flamboyant pagan ceremonies. The instrumental track ‘Golfinho do Rio’ is a heroic ode to the infinite sea, combining driving rhythms with new-age-inspired synthesized sea creatures’ cries, layered with mighty string melodies. It is followed by the grungy ‘In Sorrow’, where ghoulish and fiery rebel energy is summoned through ice cold drums, and haunting gothic vocals. The album sees the re-emergence of the blazing sun in the softer and melodic title-track ‘Soleil Tartare’. ‘Voûtes et Cercueils’ crowns the album with its epic and dramatically ascending polysynth sonic poem.

With her seminal and genre-defying album, Dim Garden brings new and disruptive energy into the hinterlands of electronic music. Her work spawns a distinctive mix of raw electronics, minimal wave, noisy industrial and gothic ballads. Having previously released mostly on digital and cassette tape labels (Nightwind Records, Italo Moderni, Ophism, Hunger!, ClanDestine, tanzprocesz, ERR REC, Ernest D. Tapes etc), Dim Garden’s debut vinyl, which collates a variety of influences, is sure to compel listeners with its poetry and awe-inspiring synthesis.

Captivated by the North Sea, its dune landscape and surrounding dark forests, Dim Garden's musical endeavours expand into swampy synthesis, gothic electronic experimentation, bedroom ballads and field recordings. Together with RJM Vanderheyden, Dim Garden co-runs the DIY independent label Hunger!. The pair also perform and record as the industrial and power electronics duo Baglover.

Alyssa Moxley’s »City Replica Souvenir,« a composition reflecting on the pioneering composer and KSYME co-founder Iannis Xenakis’ unrealised »Athens Polytope.« Moxley attempts to deconstruct the sound politics and massive coordination inherent in Xenakis’ city-sized proposal to a smaller, souvenir-sized aesthetic abstraction.

Through several events and commissions the initiative  aimed to highlight connections between experimental music, research, and media practice, for instance via re-articulations of pre-modern musical forms and practices, media-archeological research, or archives amongst others.

Moving his first steps through the freed spaces of Macao, gone-but-not-forgotten squat center for experimental art practices in Milan, primordial OOze involves one of the early members of the Saturnalia festival crew and engine behind the mind-altering happenings and artifacts of Communion. Crafting soundtracks for chemical dreams as xàr num and twisted underwater dances with the trio Cortex of Light, he’s also one of the mind behind A.R.X. (Ambient Rave eXperience). With mixes aired on NTS, Kiosk, LYL Radio, Rinse FM, Noods, Mutant Radio and tracks released on Artetetra/Communion, Comic Sans, Eska and Pho Bho, in its mutable shapes the OOze has spread over the years in spaces and happenings like Jazz is Dead (IT), Nextones (IT), Codex Club (DE), Cosmic Gathering (DE), Dromoscope X (DE), Outernational Days (RO), Nyege Nyege (UG), Danzas Obsidiana (PT), Club Cocoon (BE). Superimposing ancient echoes and flash-forward insights, his mixes are as various as the moments in whom they happen or by whom they’re inspired: from ecstatic drifts beyond the wall of sleep to storms of percussions and noises spiralling close to the speed of light.

Orange Night Stop

US-born, Stockholm-based minimalist artist and apprenticing organ tuner Kali Malone gave a special organ performance in TivoliVredenburg's Grote Zaal as opening of Le Guess Who? 2019. The performance was part of The Bug's curated program for the festival. 

We can now share two exceptionally beautiful pieces from the performance: 'Sacrificial Code' and 'Glory Canon III'. Both are deeply immersive and mesmerizing tracks, drawing in listeners with Kali Malone's well-known warmth and timelessness.
