Hi again Jennifer! Awesome series here, you know all good things come in threes! I wrote a verse to a new song listening to this beautiful piece, "Am I Alive? Can it be true? So many lonely nights spent without you, These tears we shed, we shed as one, Hands intertwined,  One heart and one mind,  A single voice both yours and mine." That's the image this piece gave birth to in my mind! Thanks and great job!👍😎✌🏼

Debussy is one of my influences as well. There’s a lot of nature references in this piece.

MELOMANIAC

Composed in 2017.

The people I follow know that sooner or later I'll visit their SC page to listen to their compositions. It's a ritual I do 4-5 times a year. And when I say listen... I mean really listen.

I do it because I like certain styles. Other times it's the technique. Other times it's the composition. Other times... simply to learn.
The truth is that music, as an element of communication, tells me a lot about the creator's intention, how it interprets certain themes, and even conveys a certain profile of the composer himself.

It's hard to explain, but it's as I say.

This composition is introspective and brings together some of my favorite styles, such as melodic, rock, and electronic.

I named it this because it corresponds to a period when my listening became more pronounced and I didn't have anyone to listen to me at the time.

It's certainly a strange composition, especially because of certain percussion sections (understood as self-criticism).

I will be grateful for your comments, as always.

Melomaniac

When I set out to compose Midline, I had in mind the central line of a soundwave.  A strong, central theme (midline) with various other sounds embellishing it on the way through.  It has been as much a practice in my (basic) mixing skills as it has a composition.

Thanks, as always, to Chris Adams for patiently teaching and mentoring me on my journey further into the world of mixing.  My creative spirit has been somewhat hindered by all the "technical stuff", and at times that spirit felt defeated.  You have picked me up and put me back on the path.

Midline

IMAGES is a numbered series of original piano pieces inspired by the music impressionists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries... Ravel, Debussy and Faure. I love the impressionist painters. As a composer, I hear colors, the painter sees. And, I hear movement, shape and expression with sounds of melody, rhythm and emotion.

I hope you enjoy this collection. I would love your thoughts about how the music makes you feel, the story you imagine and the images you see when you listen. :)

Reluctant Hope

It's spring and yet in New England it is still cold enough to snow at 28 degrees, and then 60 degrees two days later!  
My first piece of the new year, A Moment in Time, is just a blip in the big picture of the universe and our life. Incomprehensible really. But everyday we experience each moment as a fully integrated part of our being. However long or short, these moments are the DNA of existence or conciousness while alive on this earth. Thank you all for supporting my music. It has been a very difficult year for me personally.  But musically, I believe I am writing some of my best music.  I am infinitely inspired and humbled by the extraordinary creativity I hear from your music each day, and the wonderful friends I have encountered from every part of the world! THANK YOU! 

I believe what the world needs is more songs about love for all living things and the earthly treasures around us. The power of love is magical, mysterious, and miraculous!  And, it is essential to our survival like water and the air we breathe.  I believe that through the universal language of music, love can heal, bring joy, and create an invisible chain that pulls all of us together, not apart.

A Little About Me...
I started composing in 2016  after not touching the piano for many years. Career, raising a family and just everday life got in the way of making music. After retiring as a music teacher in the public schools, I started dreaming of playing the piano again and my years of classical training slowly came back to me. I love every genre of music, and the talent and creativity on SoundCloud has inspired me at every level.  I am very grateful to all my listeners and the gift of music in my life!

For those of you who follow me on Soundcloud, I have been experimenting with adding tracks to my piano compositions.  I create and record everything using a Yamaha 660DGX, including the instrumental tracks built into the keyboard. Then I edit on my laptop using Sony Sound Forge Music Pro.  It's a simple set up, and I have lots to learn.  Thank you for listening and helping me in my musical journey!
