I miss my big band so much! This was taken at our last show in December 2019 at the legendary Blue Whale in Los Angeles. So many good memories at that venue and with this band. Cannot wait to get the band back together!!!

this is a big band chart i wrote in late 2015 - early 2016.  probably one of the first charts in which i really started to flesh out my own compositional voice and style.  lemme know what you think!

the recording features the msm concert jazz band, as a part of the jazz student composers big band concert in march 2016.  soloists featured are: 
benny troschel - flugelhorn
pureum jin - alto sax
niall bakkestad-legare  - tenor sax
jesse levit - soprano, sax section leader (shout out just because i know how finicky and weird that soli is)
fred griggs - drums

completely irrelevant to the music, but noteworthy if you're one to keep tabs on me (lol) - this chart won an ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers award and a Downbeat student music award for large ensemble composition, both last year.

picture is a little blurry because we were in a moving bus, but this is from a trip to europe in 2015 on a drive from Siena to Florence, and it was this particular drive, and the lighting on all the scenery that inspired the title "Golden Fields."
