One of my Favorire Authors ...We got alot of the same core elements...Mortal Engines I've just decided to pick back up again. Have the old paperback beaten to pieces Yet reads as well as the day I bought it ...decades ago. Great track from a fellow Lem fan!!! :)

Inspired by "The Invincible" a novel by Stanislaw Lem. 
I started with some synth sounds that reminded me of classic sci-fi I read in my youth.
For the tech-minded:
I used a Gibson 335 for the guitar parts, split the signal, used a tape echo for one channel and delay on the other, then put the whole lot through a vintage reverb... The reverse bits were done using a sampler.

We submit this song for your precision analysis. Help us determine the source of poor Ramshackle's malaise.

This started when I was messing around with some softsynth VST's I hadn't used before and landed upon a sound I liked using one called Prodigious Synth.  I laid down a bit of an upward melodic progression with the pianoroll and that became the basis for the song.

Somewhere along the way I threw in some radio clips from the Apollo program and kept tinkering with it the last few weeks until it has become a sort of series of set pieces hinging around the same melodic cues.

I had some fun messing with some pictures of the Apollo 11 moon landing to make the track art as well.  You can see the full resolution image here: https://i.imgur.com/3xaHWcX.jpg

I've been on Soundcloud for six years now and it's been great exploring the work of other artists.  There is so much generosity of spirit on this platform, it's just what you need when most of your music is made solo. 

I started out playing classical and Spanish guitar, then took up flamenco to ease myself away from the confines of musical notation. As a result, Latin rhythms often creep into my music. 

A friend introduced me to steel string and electric guitars just a few years ago and I still find the scope they bring dizzying... but what fun!
