The score is made of loose, small, brief phrases and melodies spread over several pages. They recall images of clouds, a fence, footsteps, a bug, a ball, mountains, a wall, birds, waves, flowers, etc. The organist chooses to play them in any order and repeat them as many times as he pleases. The soundtrack is made from rhythmic patterns on GarageBand. It could eventually be played by a live drummer. The soundtrack works as the background for the organist to apply his motives.
The inspiration comes from children’s drawings. They are fresh, direct, spontaneous, they have their own perspective and proportions and above all they are free of judgement! Unfortunately, as children grow they lose that expression forever. This piece is an attempt to recapture that period of life.

White Chocolate

One choice becomes a childhood kitchen,
in which are stove and pancakes baking, 
in which the scent of melted butter,
the taste of egg, of sugar, lime 
and lemon; then chocolate milk
too warm and rising, the gas-flame quenched,
a hiss, a curse, an acrid burning,
a flannel’s motion; a cup held up 
and brought to lip: delight takes over. 

Or choose an other decades later,
a room in which a coal fire's burning, 
the taste, my first, of food and laundry,
the new-made scents of ghee and curry,
a counterpoint of fruits and spices,
of clove and cardamon and ginger,
a symphony of fresh cut lamb
that's simmered slowly, then served 
with chai, with garlic naan, chapattis.

Each image drawn's an evocation,
for each enacts our life, our story,
how every moment might be other,
the taste, or not, of each sensation,
each one rehearsed, each one imagined,
then one foreclosed, another chosen, 
the real and unreal both remembered.
