In the nineties a move to the UK came as a consequence of his studies and with him a pulsating eagerness which helped Lateral Movement to dive right into the local music culture, effervescent as ever. There he meandered effortlessly through genres, taking him deeper into the arts whilst aiding his curiosity, from free jazz to indietronica. Returning to his homeland, Portugal, subtracted him from this rich diversity and forced him to become a strong supporter of the alternative scenes, where he looked to push people and projects that shared his values and vision. There and then he decided to embark on a different kind of journey and took upon himself the responsibility of discovering new music and to share it with the community. To this day techno and its many guises are his passion, especially the deeper and hypnotic realms, where ambience and atmosphere play the main role.

Utopian is bringing a bloomy selection of left field sounds, stiching them together to come up with an eclectic journey. 

ARTIST'S BIO:
"Utopian is Isidro Bolívar’s moniker. He was born in the south of Spain and from an early age he always had a soft spot for introspective music, no matter if it was floor-oriented or home-listening. As a Dj he takes hypnotism as the foundations of his craft, although, his sets can take many shapes, tribal, deep, minimal or melodic depending on the mood.
A few years ago, he discovered a new wave of Italian techno musicians like Donato Dozzy and especially Marco Shuttle which was a life-changing moment for him. This would define his technique, dj skills and mindset. Focusing on a more progressive based built up and smooth transitions. Musically speaking Utopian keeps an open eye on new releases but also on old hidden gems and will play them within the same set as long as the music pairs harmonically and respect the timeless quality of techno aesthetics.
He played a few gigs at Alpenglühen, a notorious forward-thinking techno night run by the internationally respected F-ON in Madrid. 
He closing set at Calma festival (Madrid) this time with a more tribal-ambient approach to a crowd sitting and completely immersed in music. More  recently he played at perpendicular fest and the mythical club of southern Spain industrial copera.
Apart from being a Dj, Isidro was an active promoter while living in Madrid. Confessed digger and record collector and currently experimenting with music in the studio. He also recently created a space for local artists to express themselves by performing through ambient and immersive techno streaming sessions, his name is "espacio ingrávido".
Utopian was asked to play several guests mix for international big names like Campfire (Silent Season), Oslated or Monument. 
He currently lives in Granada, in the south of Spain. There he has formed a collective with his partners and friends Fran Acosta and Kaizen (Antonio Moreno), their name is Klub Collective, and they have invited great national and international artists such as Acronym, Estrato Aurora or Cobahn"

"My musical foundations are rooted in AC/DC, Sabbath and Metallica and give rise to a love of 4/4 rhythm and the riff. From here they veered into where worlds collide – Pink Floyd met the Orb in a student dive and a love of electronica was born, encompassing pioneers such as Orbital, Leftfield et
al through to UK D&B, taking in Kruder & Dorfmeister and the dub scene along the way.
The love affair however ended in the early nineties, I wasn’t feeling anything from electronica anymore, but I knew the music I could hear in my mind must be out there - somewhere. My musical imaginations seemed to put all of the above aspects in place and was only discovered pre pandemic in the form of deep techno. This discovery so rekindled my love and excitement that I took the
plunge into DJing - I wanted to take the music internally heard and create mixes to ease back to and soothe the soul. Voila. I hope you all get the same level of enjoyment from this mix, as I had creating." - Morian.

Into The Abyss #036 | Daar

Daar is the alias of spanish ambient & experimantal electronic musician and sound artist Álvaro Aragonés – author of three albums, two AV show perfomances, some film scores, etc. Inspired by genres such as IDM, new age, synthwave or ebm, his music features complex textures and often landscapes sounds.After almost a decade immersed in a project focused on the dance floor, Álvaro Aragonés moved to Berlin where he began a new career, relaxed in bpms, where eclecticism and avant-garde prevail. It is in October 2016 when he self-releases his debut album “A Place To Be”. Once the project took shape, it is the Navarrese label Sofa Tunes who trusts Daar -the name that gives life to this new face- releasing his first EP in cassette format. "Quetzal" is a journey through the jungles of Yucatan and the Mayan civilization with an outstanding IDM air and dub brushstrokes. Finally, 2019 was the year of the project confirmation thanks to an artistic residency at Konvent (Barcelona), working and creating his first A/V live: BORDERS, a project which was born from the homonymous EP released in 12" by F&S Records. Almost an hour of audiovisual immersion through the main border conflicts that plague us in our daily lives. The label's release 004 sold more than 50% of its copies in pre-order and the show was presented in cities as Barcelona, Madrid or Berlin.
2020 pointed as the year of the artist's return to more danceable influences but due to the months lived, the result was a studio album that was released last March 2021 by the reputed and prestigious Silent Season label. "Entire" is a conjunction of ambient textures and field recordings based on recent experiences of the Spanish producer.
After this work, several A/V projects arrived and performatives such as “Greda/Barro/Clay” with the contemporary dancer Kino Luque or “Limbo”, by the hand of photographer Gonzalo Gallego. Also residences in independent projects such as Radio Alhara (Bethlehem) and Relative Radio (Madrid). Currently, Álvaro has finished his third studio album that will see the light during the fall of 2023. Before, in spring and back in F&S, he will edit a split ep hybrid between the cassette and vinyl format next to the OWL artist.
