This week on Valhalla we have Oots. Oots also known as Kyle, is a 22 year old Producer/DJ from Naarm / Melbourne, Australia. 

Oots burst onto the scene in early 2020 releasing 2 edits and 2 hard-hitting original tracks that have not gone unnoticed. His edits of Headie One and Skepta’s “Back to Basics” and Travis Scott’s “90210” are both pillar tracks reflecting the sound that he possesses. 
Oots has big plans for 2021 including an EP, along with a load of banging edits that he has been able to play at clubs over in Australia. Keep a close eye on Oots as he is one to watch.

Pagan has been quietly building repute as one of Ireland and the UK’s most exciting up and comers, building a sonic palette that weaves in and out of trance-like euphoria, gun finger breaks and vibrant techno; tied together with an overwhelming sense of largeness. 

With recent plaudit pick-ups from some of the UK’s most exciting underground artists (Breaka, Denham Audio, DJ Boring, X-Coast) for his high-energy blend of low ceiling, low lighting world building, Pagan readies the release of the inaugural EP on Cheeky Music Group sub-label RRRAAAVVVEEE.

‘Butterfly’ kicks things off with a cut of introspective breaks; tranced-out melodies creating a sense of hair-raising emotion and vastness - a perfect peak-timer for those little personal moments of awe on the dance floor. ‘Ways You Went’ is a 50/50 blend of hard dance and classic trance: pounding rhythms and fun melodies scoring the silliness, before having to wipe your cut knuckles clean from punching the roof too hard.

‘The Depot’ brings back memories of Irish heads in packed-out basements; that sense of largeness steadily building amongst inspired energy, trance-techno and unapologetic UK bassline, before ‘Dreams of You’ casts a grey cloud speckled with dying sunlight into the frame with its ambient techno aesthetic and thoughtful emotion.

[PREMIERE] B2. Pagan - Dreams Of You

If salt is the bedrock of flavour, James Pepper is our preferred seasoning for the dance floor. 

Riding the wake of ‘Three Drops’, his well-received collaboration with German-producer Black Loops, Mr. Pepper is swiftly rising to the upper echelons of Australian electronica. After a memorable debut Boiler Room set at the foundational Lost Sundays event, it was only right that we invited James back to mix Lost Sundays Sessions 011. 

In his own words:

“The record that most does it for me in this	 mix is Nachtbraker’s ‘You Can’t Run’. I downloaded it years ago, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually had the chance to play it. There is just something about the synth part at the drums together that are so wrong that it’s right.

As far as Australian producers go, I’ve included a tune from Reflex Blue. I don’t know too much about RB - I only just discovered him while digging for this mix - but his recently released ‘Digital Dreams EP’ is super.

And the track in this mix I’m most excited to play when I’m back in the booth is one of my own - a collaboration with my good friend Black Loops (based in Berlin) titled ‘Arp Love’. It will be the accompaniment to my recent ‘Three Drops EP’, released on Gallery Recs. I’m yet to play it out (the finishing touches were executed as lockdown struck), but I think it bodes well for the dance floor!”

Today we premiere new music from Thelma & Josh Coakley as London and Dublin meet up for rave soaked techno. The pair have created dance-floor bliss as showcase a big room techno anthem that is packed with rave stabs, pounding kicks, adjuring vocals and crunchy percussion.

Two of the most exciting names in rave edged house and techno link up for a big and bold techno anthem. Both Thelma and Josh Coakley have been producing a concoction of infectious 90’s inspired cuts on various imprints, with key influences coming from their neighbouring countries, England and Ireland.

A newcomer to the scene, THELMA has been making waves with her techno productions this past year. Growing up in Switzerland’s capital of underground music, Lausanne, and now living in London, she is constantly challenging herself to adapt her music to different audiences. The artist has played in renowned London venues such as Egg and Corsica Studios, quickly followed by performances in Paris, Dublin and Belfast. With exciting upcoming releases and international shows, the future is looking bright for the artist.

Josh Coakley a name that needs little introduction to Irish crowds has been rising from the ashes of Dublin music scene. The award-winning DJ/Producer Josh Coakley is one of the youngest Irish talents and most underrated DJs on the international circuit now, and one of those selectors blessed with the ability to really tell a story. With productions signed to some of the best and biggest labels in the world he is never afraid to take a risk behind the decks, and you’re likely to hear him smash through some vintage old school rave tracks along with the best in house and techno.

The pairs formidable ode to the 90’s channel’s raw energy of familiar rave techno formula’s with head banging rhythms, and unapologetic vocal hits. This is made for the dance-floor, and we can see this burning dance floors across Ireland and the UK all Autumn & Winter.

We start off our vinyl series with a very special release. An original 1997 Speed Garage tune by the legend - Paul Rayner has been reworked 4 times. Originally under his Knights Of Illusion alias, the samples of his ‘Sexuality’ track were dug out of the attic off of an old floppy disk and put into the hands of 4 exciting producers, all heavily inspired by underground 90s dance music.

Soul Mass Transit System deliver their signature Speed Garage sound, topped up with classic M1 organs. Conspiracy Dubz plays homage to the legend Paul Rayner, putting together a bass heavy rework, much in style of the original track itself. Jordan puts a tribal house spin on the track and Square One pushes the track into the realms of Hardcore.
