This is a cover version of Anais Mitchell's beautiful track Now You Know. I first heard it a year or two ago and have been meaning to learn it for ages. This demo version was recorded in my living room on Sunday evening and I wanted to share it with you.

Velvet & Stone’s brand of female-fronted, indie-folk combines haunting soundscapes with catchy pop hooks and great songs – giving an original take on a traditional genre. Crafting their live set on the festival circuit with performances at Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and Larmer Tree Festival, among many others, they take their audience on a journey from stunning soundscapes to foot-stomping folk-rock.

Led by Lara Snowdon’s vocals and songwriting; Kathryn Tremlett’s violin; and supported by their regular touring band of Kev Jackson (guitar), Paddy Blight (double bass), and Garry Kroll (drums), their music draws upon personal stories, melancholy tales and rugged landscapes – creating a sound that is difficult to forget. The band weave traditional threads and combine them with folk-revival and contemporary flavours, producing a sound that has been likened to a twenty-first century Fairport Convention, and comparisons drawn with Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Seth Lakeman.

Velvet & Stone release their self-titled debut album on 2nd August 2019.  Two singles have been released from the album: ‘Oh Boy‘ and 'By the Water'. Previous releases include the Live EP (October 2018); their single ‘High Tide‘ (July 2018) in aid of Cancer Research UK; ‘Raise Your Ghosts‘ (August 2017); The Embers EP (October 2017); and The Storm EP (April 2016). Their music has gained critical acclaim from across the music press, airtime on BBC Radio 2, Radio 6, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales and is championed by BBC Introducing. The band regularly tour as both a duo and a full band and play at festivals across the UK.
