"An American Prayer" is a tribute record made in 1978 by the Doors to their late hero & leader Jim Morrison. 
Rather overlooked, this album is nevertheless full of great cuts. Ray Manzarek was once again at his best, designing great keyboards grooves perfectly matching some obscure (but fascinating)Jim Morrison's spoken words & poems.
I have been working on various edits or remixes from this LP these last few weeks. Here is a housy take revisiting the short latin-spiced jam "Latino Chrome".

Bill Withers - The Same Love (Whiskey Barons Rework)

Written by Jacques Higelin & Brigitte Fontaine, "La Grippe" was recorded in 1965. It was produced by legendary 40's/50's/60's talent scout Jacques Canetti, as part of a longer collection of songs, "12 chansons d'avant le déluge", which I highly recommend.

Founder of "Les 3 Baudets" club in Paris in the late 40s, Canetti auditionned Jacques Higelin for the first time in 1955. Only 15-year-old at the time,  young Higelin impressed him, but was too young for Canetti to promote...yet. 
Canetti told Higelin' parents that day that Jacques will probably hear from him again...when he turns 25. And kept his word, by producing this first record in Higelin long career!

To me, this wonderful little song sounds like an early echo of the bossa/jazz wave that hit in France in the late 60's/early 70's. Higelin actually subsequently worked a lot with the Saravah Records label, created by the man who introduced Brazilian sounds in France, Pierre Barough. 

Here is my samba/bossa Dj-friendly revisit of this song, as a humble tribute to Higelin's talent and legacy.

Preacher Man (HOLTOUG Edit)

Revisiting this late sixties classic originally written by Serge Gainsbourg for Françoise Hardy, who recorded it first, before he released a second version by himself. 
I chose a somehow dub-flavored atmosphere, as a little hint at some of his later work, where Jamaican rhythms influence was occasionally present.
