Joe Bataan - Mestizo (Young Pulse Rework)

In France the original version of this track was a huuuuuuge success during the 80's in Night Clubs and Radio shows as well, originally recorded by Patrick Coutin in 1981 at the Château d'Hérouville studio... Patrick Coutin is explaining that "he likes to watch girls walking on the beach..." (translation for "j'aime regarder les filles qui marchent sur la plage...") The track is still played nowadays in parties...
I have taken the decision to do a Dub version of it, in adding lots of effects, overdubs, Keyboards, and a Drum track that could stay true to the hypnotic beat with my personal vision of it....

While DJing for private parties these dayz at the Cannes Film Festival,  I wanted to calm down a little bit the BPM, and come back to a Sexy kind of slow jam...
The track that I chose "La Décadence" was originally recorded in 1971 by Serge Gainsbourg with the participation of Jane Birkin, and it includes a bunch of very talented musicians such as English Musician Library composer Alan Parker on guitar... 
You will recognize the same kind of vibe that already appeared on Mister Gainsbourg's previous hit "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus" in 1969...
It's a Love song, on which I wanted to enhance the kinda sexy striptease dance flavor that you could imagine...
I have worked on re-creating a new Drum &amp; Bass duo with some extra spices, and of course a nice highlight on Alan Parker's guitar riffs...
Hope you will have fun with it, please be kind to re post it, re share it and play it as much as you can...

Beware, Discomatin is back. In 2018, the Parisian crew of diggers and DJ’s originally known for their edits goes official with fully licensed and remastered reissues. For this new adventure, they chose an incredible in-demand French boogie EP from Diva, an eighties funk band from Bordeaux.  
Diva only released one EP with La Nuit, a sentimental, almost poetic boogie banger with great synth, guitar and vocal parts. The track could honestly have been a radio hit in the eighties with some real promotion. Today, it’s still time to make it right and it is already an anthem in the French underground disco scene.   
 Originally on the B side of the 1985 original release on Cactus, "La Nuit" is here available with its two different versions (12’’ and 7’’ mix) and comes also with “Prise Au Piège”, a more synth-pop influenced funk track which gave its name to the original release. 
 The band was formed by Gabrielle Andriampanana, Alex Louisor and Olivier Renoir. Before Diva, these last two already played together in the local new-wave band Bolton which was one of the first of the area to use synthetisers. Even if they had a small recognition at the time, the original release stood quite underground. Thanks to Discomatin, it’s now available to the real connoisseurs and still with the fantastic illustrations of French artist Camille de Cussac on the back cover. feels right kicking things back into gear with Synergy Sound - a duo that is really defining the Night Owl sound. this track, "Flight", is actually a single taken from their upcoming 11-track album "Beyond". we'll be releasing another single from the album in a few days on May 4th, and then the rest of the tracks will be self-released 1-by-1 on their own soundcloud after that.

00:59 Euphonic Vol. 3

Written by Jacques Higelin & Brigitte Fontaine, "La Grippe" was recorded in 1965. It was produced by legendary 40's/50's/60's talent scout Jacques Canetti, as part of a longer collection of songs, "12 chansons d'avant le déluge", which I highly recommend.

Founder of "Les 3 Baudets" club in Paris in the late 40s, Canetti auditionned Jacques Higelin for the first time in 1955. Only 15-year-old at the time,  young Higelin impressed him, but was too young for Canetti to promote...yet. 
Canetti told Higelin' parents that day that Jacques will probably hear from him again...when he turns 25. And kept his word, by producing this first record in Higelin long career!

To me, this wonderful little song sounds like an early echo of the bossa/jazz wave that hit in France in the late 60's/early 70's. Higelin actually subsequently worked a lot with the Saravah Records label, created by the man who introduced Brazilian sounds in France, Pierre Barough. 

Here is my samba/bossa Dj-friendly revisit of this song, as a humble tribute to Higelin's talent and legacy.
