Short Round releases his sophomore effort, a wholly collaborative 7-track album that features the voices of Siddharth Basrur, Saurabh Roy (The Lightyears Explode), Mali and others, to create a beautifully varied landscape; one that is best navigated with companions.

Autumn (feat. Rahul Pais & Mali)

Sayanthika, a student of Journalism from Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru, is a budding journalist, poetess, performer and a chirpy young woman of 26 years. She believes her life is like a rainbow and she leads a colorful life. The first pride show that she attended was in 2015, which also happened to be the first pride show that Shilok Mukkati had attended, whom she considers to be her source of inspiration ever since. 
When asked to define herself in five sentences, she firstly defines herself as a poet, and believes that everything she is today has come out through poetry: be it her sexuality, her opinions on social issues, even her personal life: everything is best expressed through poetry. Secondly, when asked several times as to why she is unabashed and vocal about her sexuality, she firmly believes that her sexuality needs to be asserted in today’s society and is hence, firm about her identity as a lesbian. Currently, she is pursuing a triple major course in Mount Carmel College, where along with studying Journalism, she is harboring her love for writing as well. Sayanthika realized much later in life that she’s a lesbian at the age of 24. Recalling her adolescent years, she mentions that when she was in Gwalior, she was in a four year long distance relationship with a boy but hadn’t explored her sexuality yet.
She voices out the incident that changed how she views herself, as she shares with us the detail that she’s a rape survivor. It was an extremely difficult time as she went through her PTSD therapy, putting behind days when she was locked up, with days of self-injury. Overcoming the stormy days, she hence, feels the need to come out and speak up because she feels this would make us not victims but fighters, or survivors. Opening up and talking about one’s own experiences is a therapy in itself. She fought for a long time, staying all by herself for 8 months, she was later taken to the doctor where she took years of counseling and therapy to surmount her pain and anguish, and she found the strength within her to start again.
As she moved to Bangalore, she tried exploring her sexuality, and felt more attracted towards girls. She recalls her experiences when she fell in love with a girl here. Although she didn’t date her, the girl became her mentor and guide, taught her what it is to come in terms with herself and her sexuality. She finally made friends over the years, came out to her parents, through sending them poetry shows, that she performed in college. She remembers how her mother spelled her out on being gay in a funny experience in Goa. She feels she is blessed to have supporting parents, and believes that familial support is imperative for members of the community to strong headedly step forward and accept themselves. She stresses on the significance of members coming out to share their stories and feels that it is important that we do so, because a number of us go through it but keep mum, because of societal pressures or other forms of norms. She feels it is high time that we stopped keeping shut and voice out our stories, and so she performs not just for being vocal to herself, but for all the women who require just the push to come forward. 
In her journey, Sayanthika believes she has not only fought but found happiness after a long time, and feels that poetry and her true self are the two foundations of her happiness. In the same manner, Sayanthika in this show, urges women to come out, and speak about their experiences, as there are platforms that would be eagerly waiting to lend a patient ear and help each other out.
