Do you ever feel alone in these cold and dark times? This new release on Eating People soothes your January-blues.
The title track of this EP „Not Alone“ from Egotape takes us with it’s very unique sound to a melancholic and emotional world. Multi-layered strings create a painful tension throughout the track - a reminiscence of the times we have been through.

Finally this dissonance is released by a hopeful and gentle vocal. Music connects us and lights up the dark times. After all we are NOT ALONE.

The remixer @hiddenempire, @bebetta and @le-palf are taking the original track to the dance floor.

Bebetta delivers with her remix a powerful Prime-time track with a focus on melodic elements, driving drums and a surprising twist after the break. It brings back the feeling that we are all together. After the darkness comes the light.

The EP is rounded off by a very well balanced remix by Hidden Empire who combine exciting drum elements with sentimental chord progressions and an energetic break. Injecting bass and groove manages to give their remix a straightforward, yet dreamy and solid groove appeal.

As a digital bonus Le Palf comes along with his soulful deep house version. He deconstructs the original track into a hypnotical trip with a strong groove, reduced pitched-down vocals and a futuristic, dark aesthetic.

Steyoyoke Black continues to make its presence known and with the wind of success in their sails they charge full steam ahead with their second release, which has already featured in Finnbassen's latest BBC Radio 1 podcast for Pete Tong. The 'Tranquila' EP by Pete Oak features one original and one remix, with Dahu stepping forth for remix duties. 'Tranquila' is an EP that brings together not one, but two princes of darkness who perfectly reflect the sinister sounds now bound to Steyoyoke Black.

'Tranquilla' is an ode to Pete Oak's production skills and is indeed something to be admired. The rhythm is sharp, intense and demanding, with a heavy dose of percussion to help accentuate a strong sense of mystique and power. The bassline rolls and lolls, sucking into a hole of techno driven darkness. 

Dahu's remix can best be described as liquid gold to the ears. He chooses to expose 'Tranquila's underlying attitude and majestic beauty, which makes you want to close your eyes at times to fully absorb its melodic groove. Strings, high hats and layered synths overlap a cascade of chord progressions, that gradually push you to a point of no return.

Over the course of 150 releases, Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records has established itself as one of electronic music’s key imprints. Their latest is another special offering of well sculpted club sounds that come from the talented Fairmont.

Jake Fairley aka Fairmont is an electronic music producer, live performer and DJ from Toronto, Canada, who has put out three albums, the last of which came on this label in 2012. His artful EPs have come on labels like Border Community, Days of Being Wild and his own Beachcoma imprint as well of course on his home from home, My Favorite Robot Records. Out of the studio Fairley has long held a reputation as an impressive live performer and is currently in the process of putting together a new show. This brand new show will feature hardware he has built himself from studio components, encased in perspex and lit up like the setting sun; expect something special, part live show, part art installation!

This latest release opens with the compelling ‘Carthage’ a track built around lush layers of supple and reflective synths. Big bass broods below and the effect is trance inducing and serene. At eight minute long this epic piece of work never outstays its welcome and instead just lulls you deeper under its electronic spell.

Next up, ‘Loose Teeth’ is another elongated track that progressively builds and builds in exquisite fashion with Sasha-esque synths bubbling away. It’s widescreen and intergalactic and full of class. Last of all, this transcendental synth trip concludes with the gorgeous ‘With Closed Eyes.’ Landing almost fully formed, it is slick and sleek electronic music with long tailed pads, carefully decaying synth lines and a kinetic sense of energy with whispered vocals up top.

Spine tingling and sure to take any DJ set to the next level, this is a sublime trio of tracks from Fairmont and MFR and sets the stage perfectly for the live show to come.

London's own John Monkman continues a scintillating run of records with a new two track EP forthcoming April 14th on Noir Music, the imprint of Danish titan Noir. The 'Trusting Source' EP follows previous releases on the likes of  Kompakt, Anjunadeep and his very own Beesemyer Music as well as his most recent delivery the two track 'Epoch' EP for Crosstown Rebels' Rebellion imprint. The new EP treats Noir Music to a signature Monkman twosome, the lead you can hear in full premiere on When We Dip today. 'Trusting Source' brings together a beautiful melange of deep synth leads and an all-consuming low end element.

Premiere: John Monkman - Trusting Source [Noir Music]

John Monkman makes his debut on Noir Music and this guy has been on my radar for quite some time now due to releases on Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical. I got the Trusting Source track about 6 months ago and basically signed it after one listen. Since then both John and I have been road- testing, talking about the track and John has been adjusting the track to dancefloor perfection. In the process of it all I suggested John that he made a 2-tracker instead of a single release of Trusting Source. He knocked me off my feet with first listen of Lacquer which is another genius piece of music from the London-based producer.Both tracks are super groovy. Trusting Souce being the classic and timeless effort and Lacquer the more experimental and forward thinking piece.Hit play and check out this fantastic double a-side release.

Following up to his 2017-released album „Nebula“ our man from Greece Petros Manganaris a.k.a. Echonomist presents a set of four brand new reworks for tracks featured on the album as his first single to be released in 2k18 via Upon.You Records. Alongside a personal retake on one of his own tunes we see the labels head honcho Marco Resmann on remix duties as well as the likes of Chaim & Jenia and Doctor Dru.

Upon.You Records' creative mastermind Marco Resmann is at the controls for a remix of „Cosmos“, providing an endless, spiralling ride through space and time, fueled by humungous waves of warm, sawtooth subs and complex, heavenly pads paving the way for an intricate synth motif of unquestioned, space age-influenced beauty.

Echonomist himself provides an update – not: remix - for „Metamorphosis“, taking the original tune deeper into stripped down Intelligent Techno realms whilst keeping up with the flickering (Neo)Cosmic synth fountains to be found in the tunes original version.

The ever busy Doctor Dru is at the controls for a rework of „Metamorphosis“ which consciously is balancing the thin line between Deep Techno for timelessly flowing late night sessions and tenderly floating elements of highly intelligent Trance (Not Trance). Carefully arranging heavenly pads and employing a changed main motif this hyperclean, minimalist re-cut will be making its way into DJ's crates as a special weapon for special moments for a reason. 

With their take on „Perasma“ we see Chaim & Jenia Tarsol provide a unique musical vision which offers an unequalled fusion of pumping, hypnotic TechHouse, raw, yet defined vintage synth figures and the damp heat of ethnic trance employed via minimalist tribal percussions and the (ab)use of warped South American-flute sequences.
