This is a song about having to put on your "big boy pants", or, in other words, becoming an adult. It's just a "metaphor". It's some of that sweet disco with a beat switch at around 1:54.

This is a song about what underlies the life you present to the world. Is the character you play while at school, work or in public the same one when no one is around? To find out who you really are, you must let go of what other people tell you you are and find out for yourself. Then you can come back into society after having successfully integrated your shadow self.
