The week had gone from bad to worse; he felt like a magnet for catastrophe. He hoped it would be confined to either work or life but the setbacks and mistakes managed to seep into both areas; worsening day-by-day. But it was yesterday's blunder that cemented the impending crash. When the email arrived from his boss, he knew it was marching orders.

Next month marks the release of 'Life Of Mammals', Museum Of Love's long-awaited follow up to 2014's self-titled LP. The project of LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and DFA affiliate Dennis McNan AKA Jee Day, the pair have been teasing tracks from the forthcoming release on Skint Records, including the recently shared 'Marching Orders' which comes complete with two remixes courtesy of Tel Aviv-based producers Red Axes who gear the track towards the dance floor with a vocal version and a dub mix.

Mishell is an upcoming producer from Tel Aviv. His Slope EP is a very diverse record – every track with a different feel, from positive to even more dark vibes. All of them combine the same influences such as funky vibes, trance melodies, rolling house bass lines as well as organic percussions and instruments. The track Tika was created in collaboration with his good friend Lott.

After being featured on the well-received compilation “HEARec Vol. 5” last year, Oaxaca de Juarez-based producer Ulises Arrieta (SXDNS193) is back on the respected Bolivian/French imprint, this time with a four-track EP presenting two beautiful originals and two creative remixes made with love by Heidenreich (SXDNS142/FREEDL003) and Mishell (SXDNS228).

Despite the young age, Ulises has already achieved both local and international recognition due to the high quality of his works. With appearances on some of the most important labels of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene like, for instance, NEIN, Controlla, Veneno, Emerald & Doreen, Nothing Is Real, Espacio Cielo, Belly Dance Services, Dogs & Vultures, and NUFF Music, just to name a few, the Mexican artist has been slowly but steadily carving his name in stone amid the best acts of the present & future generation of Latino talents. A quick peek at his releases on your favourite retailer will prove the point.

But let’s go back to his brand-new endeavour, shall we? Premiered here, Mishell’s remix brings the theme to a less obscure realm. If the original is a fat & dark, rock-infused cut, the interpretation of the Israeli producer is lighter and groovier, more suitable for the last rays of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere than its counterpart that will pair perfectly with the imminent indoor season. The creative and innovative label HEARec brings Mishell (SXDNS228) and Lott for its forthcoming release: Two close friends from Israel, currently based in Berlin where they invest their time in music production, heavily inspired by their hometown and their younger years. Their distinctive and powerful style make these guys great representatives of a new musical proposal coming all the way from the Middle East. Following their song “Modulnation”, released on the fifth annual VA compilation of the label, Mishell & Lott deliver this time “Nights of Montanita”, a five-track EP divided into four insightful originals and one beautiful remix by Tushen Raï (SXDNS038), one of the masterminds behind Lyon’s massive label Hard Fist Records.

“Harif”, the track we were solicited to premiere, means “spicy” in Hebrew, and its main characteristic is the sharp and remarkable shamanic vibe – it is truly hot. It starts with jerky drums, melted with oriental-styled strings and the signature guitar-like riffs of Mishell & Lott. Distinctive Middle-Eastern chords, powerful kicks, and the Psytrance atmosphere are a winning recipe. The duo scores a sensorial trip once again; you’d better keep an eye on them – we will surely do!
