Ambiance is a fast rising newcomer who is welcomed back on Mexican label Duro with another fantastic EP that includes remixes from Midnight Magic and Club Duro.

Ambiance is a project from a Nicaraguan artist living in Los Angeles. Surrounded by booty bass and Cuban music while growing up in Miami, he has a love of electro and freestyle. In the past he toured as a saxophone player, and brings all these eccentric qualities to his live shows and fascinating recorded music.

Opener ‘Censurados’ is a charming post-wave body music masterpiece. With lyrics that allude to post-punk’s affinity to politics and somber disappointment, it is a joyful musical arrangement of angsty guitars and cosmic synths married to an industrial disco beat.

Flipping the original, Brooklyn’s Midnight Magic serve up a perfect Italo sounding remix with a squelchy bassline and lively synths that ooze colour.

The brilliant ‘Hombre Araña’ is the next original and has frenetic EBM bass, retro string melodies and roaring, sepulchral voices which bring intensity to the dance floor. The Club Duro mix is a shimmering track with rugged bass and echoing vocals, it’s unusual and absorbing with great effects.

Last of all is a delicious dub mix of ‘Censurados’ that focusses on wet claps and tooting arps which keep on ramping up the energy levels throughout.

This is an EP that brims with post disco invention and excellent analogue sounds.

2017 saw the arrival of Pin Up Club here at the Bordello with a superb three tracker, Friends of the Vortex. Now the Dutch partnership are back. This time a quartet of tracks has been selected to produce The Forever Machine. The bold bars of Friends of the Vortex, the romantic rushes and soundtrack silhouettes are all present with new elements being introduced to further develop a truly unique style. Breathy vocals and melancholy are countered by warm synthlines in the brooding “Valis” before the lonesome “Is There Anybody Out There?” blooms into a daringly bright work of disco dimensions. Opening the flip is the title piece. Smouldering, “The Forever Machine” burns with quivering chords that rise ever skyward on a column of tight rhythms as lyrics spiral ever upward. “A Deepness In The Sky” is a perfect illustration of Pin Up Club’s ability to transform burgeoning sombre sounds into tempered elation, rumbling strings and fragile percussion intermingling for a heady finale. Pin Up Club - A Deepness In The Sky

Stockholm’s Tom Tom Disco offer up their first vinyl release and continue to shine with a dazzling new package from Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor with remixes from Jonathan Kusuma, Roe Deers, Uninc & Kolomensky and Leonor. From middle eastern psychedelia to Romanian cold wave, tribal EBM or slow industrial techno, Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor have a brilliantly diverse sound and open musical minds. They play everywhere from Berlin basements to Palestinian clubs via Peruvian jungles and are newly installed resident at Paris’s Rex club. Their musical adventures continue in real style here. Opener ‘Nana’ is a tropical disco groover, with slow drums but colourful samples and effects that make it feel alive and organic with mind melting leads that take you on a trip. Jonathan Kusuma is a leader of the underground music scene in Jakarta, Indonesia and signed to I’M A CLICHÉ, Love Is On The Rock and Optimo music. His rugged remix is built on dirty bass rumbles with stark hits driving it along late into the night. Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor then offer ‘Spell On You’, a brilliantly unhinged track with wonky grooves and bass, popping melodies and colourful pads that with light up any set. This one gets remixes by Roe Deer, a key name on the scene who hails from Latvian and here layers in freaky spoken words, chops up the beats and ups the playfulness to make for a superb weird disco cut. Two digital bonus tracks include a remix from Russian duo and ИДА label bosses Uninc & Kolomensky plus Leonor, a Mexican artist living in France and close friend of Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor, and both take the original in dark and absorbing new directions. This is a wildly diverse and standout package of inventive club sounds from all involved.

Stockholm Syndrome - Confined The Mind(Alex Aguayo Remix)

There is definitely something "afro" inspired about this latest EP from Puma & The Dolphin, certainly in comparison to pretty much everything else the mysterious Bulgarian project has produced, including a great EP for Canadian imprint Chambre Noire and some stellar inclusions on every one of Dj soFa's highly respected "Elsewhere" compilations. 

The story goes that while immersed in domestic life during lockdown in Sofia the music evolved to take in what was happening at home and saw the inclusion of toy instruments, drum playing, the voices of children playing and even the family parrots whistling and squawking in the background. These random ambient insertions when seen in the context of the hypnotic and percussive rhythms and timbres are oddly reminiscent of the late, great Francis Bebey who, although culturally and physically a million miles removed, was also known for recording much of his work at home and who also featured the voices of his children playing. 

In fact, it is as much the music's playfulness and simplicity that give the pieces their distinctive character, at times echoing the repetition and mesmerism of Raymond Scott's "Soothing Sounds For Baby" series. Yet, childrens' music this is not. There is a mysticism and depth on one hand and a willingness to experiment on the other that echoes the pioneering experimentalist K. Leimer's early Eno-inspired tape outings (check "Supermarket" for example). 

I asked Puma & The Dolphin's Nikko Names if he could share the story behind how these six tracks came together. He had this to say: 

"This collection of pieces were created during a monotone period of my life which I have overlaid with colour: a time in which I surrender to the beauty of home life - watching my kids play, feeding the birds - entwining these sounds of my surroundings amongst the rhythmic layers of these pieces. Playing the drums to remind us of the next circle dance for four. There is something mystic to travel only in your head; a shamanic trip inside the body with no concepts and answers."

Third single from Yet Another Kito Jempere Album. Collaboration with Kito Jempere Band vocalist Noteless on bass/synths and Italian finest Hard Ton duo with Massimo Bastasi on vocals. Song which appearing on the album as almost 11 minute tech-ambient track, on the single edited to the perfect radio version, made by Lipelis, who changed it into proper pop hit. Heartbreaking George-Michael-ish vocals and lyrics alongside with Yamaha QY70 sounds making proper 80s soundtrack feel. On remix duties Kito’s best friend, Kito Jempere Band member, long time collaborator Lipelis (L.I.E.S./ Public Possession) delivering 8-minutes long journey and Low Budget Family/House Hamam artist Moonoton bringing 80s touch of the track into full-power.

Inspired by a distorted crime-scene imaginary, “Blood on the Pavement” by Athens based slowed-down music wizard Anatolian Weapons is Marguerite Records’ 9th release.
Front side, entirely curated by the Greek producer, contains 3 EBM-esque, mid tempo dancefloor ready cuts - ranging from the trippy 303 workout in “Blood on the Pavement” on A1 to the more stripped down “The Word is Hate” on A3.
Flip side is a proper Daniel Holt takeover! First cut it’s his version of the title track, characterized by an all around saturation, an heavy tom workout and a VHS sounding synth lead. On B2 the Nashville artist takes on “Death on the Pavement” and brings an unexpected New Beat taste to the jam.

Satori is a special talent who brings live performance musicianship to a club environment to transform a sweaty dance floor into a modern concert hall. Showcasing a mystic style that blends ethnic melodies with uplifting pads and tribal beats.

In the age of the DJ, many electronic music fans forget about the art of playing instruments and the skills that go into making what is heard on vinyl, CD’s and other recorded formats.

Bringing together keyboards and other music making equipment, Satori makes tracks rather than plays them, which means to play music he likes from other people he first must remix it into his own track.

Because of this, Satori has made a unique release in collaboration with Sol Selectas, which is one of his favourite labels. Having worked with Sol Selectas before, he and the label owner Sabo have a special relationship.

Sabo granted Satori special access to the label's back catalogue so he could remix his favourite Sol Selectas tracks to use in a 10 hour live set, and happy with the results of those reworks, it was mutually agreed to put together this special release with those tracks plus three brand new original works.

Playing live means fans get to watch him make music on the fly and ensure no two performances are ever the same, even when he plays one of his tracks released by labels such as Crosstown Rebels, 8bit, or Get Physical.

Because the Sol Selectas reworks had been written for use in a specific track order with some of Satori’s original tracks played in between, he and Sabo decided to do an album with those tracks taken from the set, and make them available for those not lucky enough to hear it performed live.

Also a great opportunity for DJ’s to get updated versions of their favourite Sol Selectas cuts, the release features reworks of Namito, Matanza, Amine K, El Buho, Derun, and Sabo himself.

The artwork by Helia Jamali honours the origins and roots of the songs in the album."

After two highly successful edits (Koi Jaye & Sahrany), an original on a compilation and one remix, Tjade’s debut EP is finally here. The Dutchman comes to Mule Musiq with four diverse electro tracks that are both for the clubs, as well as for home listening. The A-side holds two heavy hitters, one uptempo and one downtempo, that are meant for dimly lit dancefloors, whereas the B-side holds two collaborations with female vocalists that are meant for calmer settings. All tracks are, some very obviously and some metaphorically, inspired by Tjade’s other fascination: space. The EP will be available on vinyl and digital through all known shops from November 6th 2020.

While Rees took on remix duties for a second dance with Gigi, Brooklyn-based artist Juan MacLean, who's had an impressive 2020 with releases on Correspondant and Aus Music,  reworked Taramoto to come up with a hyper-melodic engraving piece that's designed for the (living-room) dance floors as it boosts latter with full feel good Disco flavors to guide you through a night out or at home.
