I just returned from BigCi up in the Blue Mountains/Wollemi National Park ... I miss the morning and evening bird sounds, frogs, insects.

Late at night by a small river near the main entrance to Jenolan Caves. A number of frog species calling including Peron's Tree Frogs, Green Stream Frog & Spotted Marsh Frog.

Recorded in pinsapo (Spanish fir) forest in the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, near Ronda Spain.  The birdlife was particularly active this cool spring morning, with many species moving around close by the microphones. You can here some very light rain blow in during the second half of this sample.

Bird species recorded on this track include Tawny Owl, Eurasian Jay, Common Wood Pigeon, Iberian Green Woodpecker, Crested Tit, European Robin, Short-toed Treecreeper, Eurasian Siskin, Chaffinch, Hawfinch and  Red Crossbill.

The sound recorded was for a project around the flamingos of the Yucatan. I arrived at this location to record surround sound of an estuary that was located inland. There was a tower about 50 ft. high that I climbed to record the sounds of the birds as they were waking up for the day. I was in the tower by 4:30am and recorded for the next five hours. This is as the sun was just coming up and the birds were calling out in waves of strange noises. Some of which did not sound like birds and the guide that was with me could not name. It was quite the experience. I was in the Yucatan for a period of two weeks and during that time was able to record in many different areas and of course I spent a lot of time with the flamingos. I recorded using a Sound Devices 664 mixer/recorder and at times used a Sound Devices 663. Most of the recordings were done using a Schoeps Stereo set up and a surround sound Holophone.

Australia's tropical rainforests are a global biodiversity hotspot, providing vital habitat for a staggering variety of wildlife, including many unique, endemic species. 

This recording was made at dawn one morning near Lake Eacham, on the Atherton Tablelands. The lush rainforest was filled with sounds of birds  including  Superb & Wompoo Fruit-Doves, Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Golden Whistler, Eastern Whipbird, Spotted Catbird, Bower's Shrikethrush, Brown Gerygone, Grey-headed Robin, Double-eyed Fig Parrot, Bridled & Lewin's Honeyeaters and more....

A vibrant spring dawn chorus recorded on the banks of the Cudgegong River in Wollemi National Park, NSW, Australia. 

Species recorded on this track include Musk Duck, Australian Reed Warbler, White-throated Gerygone, Superb Fairywren, Grey Fantail, Rufous Whistler, Noisy Friarbird, White-eared Honeyeater, Yellow-faced Honeyeater, Grey Shrikethrush, Olive-backed Oriole & Australian Raven.

A cloud forest soundscape featuring the calls of Spotted Catbird, Chowchilla, Rufous Fantail, Pacific Emerald Dove & Brown Cuckoo Dove  along with the gentle sound of dewdrops falling in the misty forest. Recorded in high elevation cloud forest on the slopes of Mount Lewis in Far North Queensland, Australia.

Recorded at first light near my camp in Mount Gibson Sanctuary, Western Australia. 

Spiny-cheeked, White-fronted & Grey-fronted Honeyeaters call as they flutter about feeding in the flowering salmon gums.  The fluty, bell-like rhythms of Crested Bellbird can be heard too.
