People take it almost for granted but it’s such a technical and logistical challenge to run an artcar in the desert.

Festival grade tech - generators, PA, lighting etc - has to fit inside a tiny bus and kept running for a week. Overheating is the main danger, mechanical wear and tear due to dust and vibration is substantial. Generators need constant refueling. Easier said than done when the fuel truck does not show up due to sandstorms.

Then you need a bunch of security to keep people from being run over or falling off the artcar. The chaos these crews have to manage is substantial.

It takes a village. 🙏🏽❤️"

Let's dance disco angels! Lighting up your Tuesday with an incredible set by Budakid & Matthias Meyer. We thoroughly enjoyed having this dynamic duo finish the night super strong and making our 2022 year end in such a dreamy way. They joined our Babylonian Nightsky Celebration in Amsterdam and played this stunning set at the Star Stage. The night closed out with lots of dancing underneath the glow of the planets with disco mirror performers hypnotizing us. What a night to remember!

"Rainbow Serpent is the one party I look forward to the most all year, as an artist as well as a raver. It is my first big show of the calendar year. The phenomenal sound of the Market Stage is where my systems are calibrated and standards are set for the rest of the year. For me it is the best party in the world. From the flawless logistics to the amazing psychedelic art gallery to the best food I've had at a festival, you can feel the attention to detail everywhere. 

What I love the most is the quality of human interaction, the many encounters with the kindest, most generous and enlightened people. Once again, many friendships have been forged".

We've been able get to know Patrice well over the past few years and it has made being part of sharing this piece of music even more special . He is an extremely talented artist but more importantly a beautiful person, you can't help but hear that in his productions and sets. Patience, love, and connection to the audience. 

For us this set was easily one of the best of the festival, setting the tone for one of the greatest blocks of music in Rainbow history with Michael Mayer, Petar Dundov, and Shlomo to follow. 

This is as good second time around as it was Sunday evening on the market stage... ENJOY!!

Wildwood is truly honoured to bring you Rainbow Serpent Festival's Mad Monday Closing Set by none other than our soul brother Patrice Baumel. 

Patrice has a few words he would like to say... 

“Ahead of my GU42 Berlin album release on March 29th, I wanted to share a very special live set from the other side of the planet. Like Berlin, Rainbow Serpent is an anomaly on the rave map. This mix will be online for a very limited period only:

The best dance floor in the world. That’s the Market Stage of Rainbow Serpent Festival to me. The energy of the Rainbow tribe, the rabid vibe and feeling of unity are difficult to describe to anyone who has not been here. Simply standing on the dancefloor and experience this incredible sound system is one of life’s finer pleasures. I felt absolutely honoured to be trusted with the task to close the festival. Looking onto the dancefloor from the dj booth, the Market Stage painted a beautiful picture. The atmosphere was electric and love-drunk all day, Nick Warren and D-Nox brought their A-game.

This is my third year in a row playing here and the absolute highlight on my yearly calendar. In these years my wife and I have made friends for life here, which is why we release this mix with our beloved Wildwood crew. We have grown extremely fond of Australia as a country. This place has received us with open arms from day one and never fails to blow our minds in many different ways. It has become our second home.

I want to thank the entire Rainbow crew for creating a place of artistic expression, of self-discovery, education and togetherness. This is much more than a festival, it’s a template of how to build a community.” - Patrice Baumel

#077 - Patrice Baumel (Rainbow Serpent Mad Monday Closing Set)

Took the last few days to piece back together the set from The Brooklyn Mirage recently, opening for Sasha and Digweed for what ended up being a Twilo reunion on so many levels, with much of the old crew from those days in the late 90s making the trek for what was a special show from start to finish.  The somewhat older, more diverse crowd came early and stayed until closing, with top notch production from the Avant Gardner/Brooklyn Mirage, incredible KV2 sound and just smiles all around throughout the night.  Many thanks to all those involved and to those that considered myself at the top of the list for warming up the night.
