Why are there not more electroclash tracks made these days, you ask yourself? 
Well ask no more because Lunatic Records have dropped a track which comes straight from the most scenesterist of scenes, nasty analogue vibes clash with a killer beat, those distant distorted vocals which allow for just enough disorientation on the dancefloor. 
The EP veers into the industrial techno realm which is fine by us! En Direct's first solo foray into production reminds us of DJ Hell, Tiga, Miss Kittin and all the other classic tracks from between 2001-05 without ever swaying into cliche or pastiche or any other of those French words which as simply a byword for 'Passe'. Lunatic Records 6th release truly is the number of the beast. Do your self a favour, don't be unwilling.

The intriguing tale of French duo Kimshies continues… Their sole release from 2004 re-upped into the ether by Solomun in 2018, it triggered a return to the studio after almost 15 years. Making up for lost time, they’ve already dropped two exceptional EPs on Nein. Now comes their Duro debut… And it’s a perfect dark disco match.  

Even the title says as much ‘Fucked Up Mama’: a scuzzy, frazzled jam rich in oiled distortion and lighting strike synths and a rising case of venomous acid mid-way, there’s a grit in the groove that’s going to take more than a few lockdown handwashes to feel clean from. It’s coupled by a series of equally forthright remixes: fresh from completing his debut album for Life & Death, Disco Halal alumni Autarkic strips your mama down to her kickdrum undies and redresses her in a dynamic laser laced charmer.  

He’s in good company… Nein brethren Cabaret Nocturne makes a welcome appearance with a creeping dark electro twist while La Dame Noir’s Arthur Johnson gets busy with two perspectives; one where the swing and organs provide funky refreshment and a bonus one which takes us right back into the gritty analog mama-fucking attitude of the original. Exceptional. The intriguing tale continues…

The beetle headed man renewed the hot sun everyday before rolling it above the horizon and carrying it away through to the other world after sunset only to renew it again the next day. The third instalment from Jac The Disco's 'Spin on This' output delivers the slow chugging affair of 'Hot Like The Sun' The EP features remixes from London's Kiwi who over the years has created a sound all of his own which has gained support from the likes of DJ Harvey, DJ Tennis and Optimo to name a few. 'Magic Feet' label boss Craig Bratley also features here. Craig himself has earned himself a solid reputation as a producer and re mixer with an eclectic output on respected labels such as Future Boogie, Throne of Blood, Tsuba, Instruments Of Rapture and Claremont 56. The EP has received DJ Support from the likes of Fabrizio Mammarella, Sean Johnston (ALFOS), Severino (HMD), Silicone Soul, Jennifer Cardini and Bill Brewster.
