Brighton based mixed-genre producer, signed to Orbit Records.

Toby Bennett (TOBES) has always had a love for music. His Grandad, a pianist, and Uncle, an avid vinyl and music gear collector, are his main drivers behind his passion.

Toby started experimenting with music software after discovering Hip-Hop. 

He loved the sound of Pete Rock, J Dilla, DJ Premier and Nujabes and how they were able to sample and transform soul, jazz and funk samples into new works of art. 

Toby then started using the same techniques to create similar sounding beats under the alias Wells which had success on SoundCloud and YouTube, featuring in various mixtapes, some over with over 10M views.

He has a deep passion for all genres of music, but mainly 90s music from the likes of Moving Shadow, V Recordings, Good Looking Records, Trax Records and Nice 'N' Ripe.

Over the past few years, Toby's production has expanded to using hardware to recreate the rave and jungle sound of the 90s. 

He has been experimenting with different hardware synths, samplers, drum machines, rack gear and effects to create his unique sound.

His first EP, ORB 01, captures the sound of 90s jungle and drum and bass with subtle hardcore elements.

Expect many more releases in 2024.
