In which slices of bifurcation diagrams of the Gauss Map [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauss_iterated_map] are taken as histograms, or spectra, crudely zero-padded, then inverse Fourier transformed using NumPy and SciPy. The beta parameter wafts forwards and backwards as the alpha parameter is gradually increased. The segments of sound are multiplied by a Blackman-Harris window and combined, each one shifted by a short incremented hop. The medians of the histograms are interpolated across the entire signal, and are used to pan it slightly. As the beta parameter changes direction constantly, it seemed only fair to play the right channel backwards. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauss_iterated_map]

Soundscape Experiment #4

This is a track made for Sombre Soniks' Dark Ambient Volume 6 compilation in 2013 using traditional percussion, household items, and homemade instruments to depict the mental turmoil of an innocent visitor to Innsmouth being transformed slowly into a Deep One, and how their mind battles between being horrified and appalled and being excited and soothed by the thought of leaving the realm of land walkers, and joining other cultists in the undersea world of Y'ha-Nathlei.

Father Dagon - S01E01 - Ruth Winters

Seesar is Will Connor's Dark Ambient Lovecraft-influenced soundscape project. Seesar constructs these dark ambient soundscapes using unnamable timbres and demented, uncanny rhythms and melodies to evoke the fear and dread expressed within the works of H. P. Lovecraft and other authors of Mythos fiction. More specifically, Seesar draws from Italian Futurism and Dadaist aesthetics, embracing the sounds of modern society that embody the end of world as it was seen around the turn of the 20th Century. It is a fitting incorporation as it parallels Lovecraft’s manifestation of modernism as Cosmic Doom. 

In part, Seesar accomplishes this realization of darkness by performing on scrap metal, turning household items into musical instruments, and building new noise-making devices to generate unique sonic additions. Employing textures provided by the inclusion of traditional musical instruments from various cultures from around the World are also part of Seesar’s music, further removing the listeners’ familiarity and expectations and thus deepening the connection to the unknown. 

Seesar is typically a solo project by percussionist Will Connor, but occasionally extends to invite guest musicians of like-minded musical goals and appreciation for Lovecraft, in order to present new, unheard disturbing passages, only made possible through these collaborations. 

By using these approaches, techniques, instruments, and sounds, Seesar performs and composes pieces that pay homage to and recreate feelings cultivated within the literary genius of Lovecraft and other tales of the Cthulhu Mythos. 

Currently, Seesar has appeared on several compilations of dark ambient music, expects the project’s first full length release on the UK label Sombre Soniks in the first quarter of 2014, and is participating in a multi-release projects of dark ambient artists providing backing music for new readings of Lovecraft and related stories by BBC voice actor, Jake Harders.
