Rasmus Rasmussen (Aerosol, Causa Sui) and Keith Canisius are back with another delightful set of Astral TV tracks. Since their debut album, ”Chrystal Shores” from 2017, the Copenhagen-based duo have refined and perfected their approach to making semi-improvised synthesizer music. Musically it doesn't get much more pure than this. From their vast assemblage of synthesizers - that is, vintage, modern, digital, analog and modular synthesizers - the two producers are squeezing the finest sonic essence, for your neural pleasure.

Forget about song structures and leads – it's not that kind of album. Listening to ”Travelling The Circuits” is like floating on an electronic river through a slowly changing scenery. There's really no story here, and it's not about the destination. It's about colours – lots of colours. And the tactile beauty of sounds and patterns, filters slowly opening and closing, letting your senses tickle by a unique 80hz oscillation that only a wood-panelled analog synth from the early 1980s can produce. ”Travelling The Circuits” is a true auditory delight.

Neil Landstrumm is pioneer of new electronic styles with a signature techno sound often copied and imitated, he has always been, and continues to be, a unique electronic artist.

Neil has released records on a wide variety of electronic music's finest labels over the last two decades, and is one of the true innovators in techno. Highlights include 12″s and LP’s for Peacefrog, Tresor, Planet Mu records and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. 

He has been a member of Optimo’s JD Twitch as Doubleheart, Sugar Experiment Station with Tobias Schmidt and Modini with Hostage. 

Essentially a live hardware based artist since the beginning of his career, he has toured internationally for the last 20 years with regular events in Europe, Japan and China. 

A native Scotsman, Landstrumm had lived in New York for a number of years, but is now based back in Edinburgh working from his own Witness Rooms studio.

Dedicated to the master Florian Schneider. I don't know if his old band cares or not, but obliquely speaking, some of the audio used in this track was sourced from Florian's flute on "Ruckzuck" ... the way the notes flowed out of my old ESI-4000 sampler inspired this whole track to come together in a single session, and led off String Theory's first ever release.

His focus is on building playable patches for live performance. His influences include kosmische drones, drifting vaporscapes, industrial squelch, and the ever-present swirling psychedelic maelstrom of chaos.

I breathed in a Moog Spectravox, and focused on sounds with noise to create a windy outdoors atmosphere.

I used a Moog Spectravox, and I breathed into the microphone, and also used the non vocoder part, this voice was sent to a Koma Electronik Poltergeist for quadraphonic rendering, I also use a Buchla 208C sent to a  Make Noise morphagene and clouds, and finally to the poltergeist. There is also an harmonic shift Oscilator from my friend from New System Instruments sent via a filter to a Shakmat Seeds and mixer. Everything is recorded in quadraphonics via a dual stereo Intelijel audio interface to Logic Pro, and monitored on 4 speakers.

This record is QUARK encoded to play in both stereo and Regular Matrix quadraphonic sound. QUARK is made possible by dublab & the National Endowment for the Arts.
