Jamie O’Sullivan hosts and holds residency at multiple spots in Portland, Maine. Love at Flask Lounge, S.Y.N.T.H (aka. See You Next Thursday) at the Bearded Ladies Jewel Box, and currently an underground night UFF. He’s been a dancer his whole life. From the living room to the corner in front of 7-11. Jamie’s been down. He attended his first rave in 1992 and was a regular at clubs as a teen. Traveling up and down the east coast for raves in the 90’s. By the end of the nineties, he had found NYC nightclubs, thanks to his dj boyfriend (Jack Master Flash. Aka Jack MF).  They would frequent parties like Shelter and Body&Soul. These parties and Jack MF; schooled him on the old school, Dance and Music. From there he started collecting a lot of  music through the early 2000's. He first started a small night at the Whiteheart in Portland Maine in 2008. Then started Love at Flask Lounge, in Portland, which would’ve been 10 years old this past November. His Music taste is everything from disco to techno, but finds himself drawn to mix warm with cold sounds.

Notes on the Mix///
"I decided to make this mix with mostly current selections that are relatively up beat for me. Definitely dance floor ready. With that in mind it only came natural to include some of my favorite Queer producers and DJ’s.  Living in Maine I don’t get to experience a lot of what’s going on in Larger Cities. More recently the most exposure I’ve had to the queer rave/ music scene are the  Gays Hate Techno Gatherings (selections by Dax Pierson, Exillon & a Gayphex Twin remix on this mix) 
Honcho Campout ( tracks by Dorisburg, Alex Falk, Davis Galvin, Rosa Terenzi, Kalawila, Dj Judy and a Jasmine Infiniti remix).
About 13 years  ago my music world changed after meeting Jacob and Honey Soundsystem back in the early 00’s. (Bézier track on here)

Welcome to the first mix from The Funk Assassin's worldwide series of Funks with an easy listening, warm, groovy and upbeat vibe from start to finish.

This is also a tribute to Tony Pike.

We start off in funky Amsterdam where you will be taken on a journey through the sounds of the mega funky Dutch Psychedelic Funk scene from the late 60's into the 70's and early 80’s pushing the boundaries of the analog sound; completely way ahead of it's time, you have to listen to believe it. 

The depth on the bass in particular is extraordinary.

Expect ridiculously funky beats and bass lines with a myriad of trippy organs, sexy flutes, sultry sitars and tight percussion.

Since the mix contains music recorded in analog, the raw sounds of the time and the organic feel of the music comes through as the mix progresses; full of pure Soul.

Welcome to the first mix from the Out Of This World Chill Out Funk series.

Core member of Black Bandcamp and Coop Audio, Bristol & London based Baby K crossed our path on many a smokey dancefloor over the past few years. Hazy strangers until they approached Joseph last October with the opportunity to contribute to the excellent Black Bandcamp project. Part of the Community ever since, he has provided plenty of fire in the belly for this mix with serious dance NRG from the likes of ghetto house pioneer Steve Poindexter and fellow Chicago don Fast Eddie. Expect a healthy dose of acid and electro on top to wrap this mix up into a blissful package for your listening pleasure.

We have a lot of love for Russell E L Butler who we had the pleasure of hosting for our OS party back in October 2019! Cutting their teeth in the Bay Area and now based in NYC, their tireless work rate (and the abundance of bangers) is one of the reasons why they are one of our favourite artists in the scene. It’s difficult to sum their sound up in a few words, which is readily apparent in the bomb mix that they have provided for us, so lock in and enjoy.

The traditions of Mardi Gras are a huge part of New Orleans' cultural identity which has been dramatically evolving since the early 1700s. While we think of this as a joyous & decadent celebration, it's important to remember, especially right now in the middle of Black History Month, that much of the tradition was born out of discrimination.  This year is only the 14th time that the city has ever cancelled celebrations, prompting us to pay tribute to the crown jewel of all American cities, honoring the resiliency of the Crescent City, and giving some shine to the sounds that flow thru its streets.
