i was born running
people were disappointing,
scary and judgmental 
(hi mom)
i ran and i ran...
one day, i was gifted a mirrored heart-
running a marathon in the wrong direction.
(thoughts...)
it made me angry! and sad... and lost
as ever.
how could a heart lack so much courage
and self-awareness???
i deemed this heart unacceptable!
i roared, "you damn ridiculous heart, beat it!"
both hearts shattered 
as they hit the ground in slow motion, 
each beating its own version of an S.O.S...
i woke up in the worst storm i could imagine
i couldn't    c a t c h   m y   b re a th
i thought surely i'd be washed away...
i couldn't believe the way it was coming down.
suddenly, i noticed 
> i was in between the raindrops <
at last, i didn't need the black 
around my heart 
anymore,
so i peeled it away.
i understood then, the heart that lacked
was [also] mine.
now i run with the doggies down the beach
now i got the zoomies with the piglets at the sanctuaries
and i run with the horses right through the finish line
cause i won the right to be 
free.
