Stump For Trump - Beginning Of The End

The Los Angeles-born and Charlottesville, Virginia-based, Abel Okugawa, creates a wizardry of dizzying trance, dance, and down-tempo grooves that are inspirational and majestic. “Winds” is one of the singles from Abel Okugawa’s three-hundred-plus song library, which is fairly impressive in its own right. The three-and-a-half minute song is a sweeping, electronic song of exotic candor.

The song opens with a swishy, buzz-laden introduction that merges into a dance-frenzied and electrified display of sound with wispy vocals. The immense electronic embellishments are all-encompassing and impressive. The percussive beats are fairly up-tempo in a light manner. 

Despite the lack of pounding dance-heavy grooves, Abel still finds a way to make dance music stand out with creativity, expressivity, and panache with showers of electronic sparks, a dizzying array of metallic noises and buzzes, and a symphonic wash unlike anything else that has been created. The vocals repeat a few lines throughout the song, but the result is never too repetitive. 

In the same manner, the instrumental arrangements are varied and majestic from the start. The 

pulsating beats are not too loud or too fast to interrupt the overlaying vocals. 

Abel Okugawa’s new single, “Winds,” is an engaging tune with all the elements of greatness: a catchy beat, perfect instrumental arrangements, and great vocals. The electronic elements are a mix of noises and sounds that seem to work flawlessly. At times, the music is very dreamy with vocals akin to Michael Cretu (of Enigma-fame) and Savage Garden in a house, trance, dance sort of mix. Overall, Abel turns the electronica genre upside down with a sweeping song of electric brilliance without any issues. Fans of dance, electronica, and great music overall will love the sounds.

Following their incredible debut album ‚Alive In Us‘, Darkness Falls quickly return on hfn with their next release - ‚Timeline‘. Including the brooding original version, then a real international crowd of remixes from the likes of Trentemøller -who has already worked with Darkness Falls as producer of their aformentioned album, US upstart Com Truise, the UK‘s Tom Demac and Spain‘s Pional.

Laden with atmosphere, room filling production and dramatic synths, the original of ‚Timeline‘ rushes into our consciousness like only Darkness Falls can - moody, bittersweet and timeless. An instrumental mix is included as a bonus at the end of the record. Copenhagen‘s prime production master, Trentemøller drops us in the deep end with his cinematic, dubbed out remix, giving a nod to the days of pioneering downtempo electronica like Massive Attack or Unkle.

NYC‘s new kid on the block Com Truise turns up with a cool electro mix that takes us on a glamourous drive from the 80s, to the future then back again!! This works especially well in contrast with the B side‘s remixes - if you flip over the record you‘re greeted with the blissful harmonics and twinkling synths of Tom Demac‘s remix. Demac warms up his analog gear and studio knowhow in a truly spellbinding deep house treatment of ‚Timeline‘ - heavy, playful and sincerely original.

Spain‘s Pional has made a name as a stand out figure in the nu-disco / deeper house scene of tomorrow. The mix pushes into earthy, vintage funk zones as the reverb units are set to full and wonderful live bass and acoustic instruments help tell the emotional story.

As a digital bonus, the deep twisted electronics of Sun Glitters completes the package, with their engaging, bass heavy mix.
