Woody92 (@woodyninetytwo) is a true experimentalist who operates at the fringes of the electronic scene. The Dutchman draws on his interest in graphic design to come at sound from a different perspective. His psychoactive mix of leftfield, techno and minimalism is rare and deep. He has built an international but close-knit circle of creative friends and collaborators who all work on fresh future music for his Omen Wapta label which he calls "a transitory playground for the imagination."

In this week's sublime and subliminal mix, you'll hear plenty of upcoming Omen Wapta releases and collaborations Woody92 has worked on with different artists. He says he has researched other parts of his musical self in this mix and tried to translate uptempo rhythms "that reflect a continuous movement into temporal realms - ancient fundamentals smudged and sculpted into a deconstructed landscape full of ancestral constructions.” It's a truly mind-expanding listen that opens up all new pathways.

Next up in our mix series is Kohra, a producer, DJ, and founder of Qilla Records, now based in the coastal town of Goa. The name "Kohra" (Urdu for fog/mist) captures the essence of his sound - mysterious, shapeshifting, and immersive. With releases on Spacelab, Inner Tension, Mana Abundance, and many more, his music carries a cinematic weight, drifting between the ancient and the astral. Beyond his own work - Qilla Records, founded in 2011 - has become a home for boundary-pushing artists across disciplines, recently marking its 100th release with ‘Chakravyuh’, a compilation featuring over 35 artists from across the globe, reaffirming its commitment to community and experimentation.

In this mix, Kohra offers warmth and hypnosis flowing seamlessly through spacey and rolling trance-tinged techno. It is grounded in bumpy, yet psychedelic basslines with layered textures and fluid transitions that reflect Kohra’s deep understanding of pacing and progression. True to his style, Kohra avoids the obvious in favor of nuance, drawing the listener in with a sound that’s introspective yet expansive.

Art pieces, and animation sound design are also amongst the many other things that inspire Haumea's musical process. With "Vivarium", Vienna-based live duo Mitra present their debut release and their first contribution to IO Records. Known for their immersive performances and site-responsive sound explorations, Mitra translate the raw intensity and spatial awareness of their live practice into a studio recording for the very first time.

The seven-track EP unfolds as a carefully composed sonic ecosystem. Each piece functions as a distinct organism within a living structure, contributing to a sound world that feels both precise and unpredictable. Rooted in deep listening, low-end exploration, and rhythmic subtlety, Vivarium invites audiences into an environment that is in constant transformation.

Rather than relying on fixed arrangements or traditional song structures, the tracks evolve gradually. Textures shift, patterns emerge and dissolve, and moments of stillness meet waves of tension. While firmly grounded in experimental sound design, Vivarium also reveals a sense of physicality and movement. The duo’s background in their live act is present throughout, channeling the energy of their performances into compositions that retain their organic, tactile quality.

Vivarium is more than a debut. It is an invitation to enter Mitra’s sonic world. It is a space shaped by intuition, presence, and the fluid relationship between listener, sound, and environment. Nocturnal Squall was conceived just after the intensity of the La Vallée Électrique festival. In three tracks, Nawl, an artist from Lyon, distils the energy of the night, the poetry of the winds, and the force of a dancing storm.

This EP offers a range of styles that grow in intensity, reflecting his experience during the event, the story of a metamorphosis, when humans become Mistral.

Dator was created during a music production challenge, where over 210 members of Aedi were invited to make a track using samples provided by artist alumni of The Memoir podcast.

All submissions were collected in an anonymous playlist and voted on by everyone in the community. The title and artwork underwent similar democratic processes.

A two-part performance, augmented oil painting and mixed media collage that explores the relationship between technology and nature, using the conceptual transposition of Boolean logic gates used in circuitry, onto the rugged natural landscape of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, with an aim to propose two scenarios of the future: how increased automation and technological advances may lead to conservational utopia, or the decline of the ecological environment and subsequent synthesis of nature.

This mix is the live recording of my set at Free Movements on the 28th of September 2019. I really enjoyed playing this set, sat in a cozy dark room, with my friend Hanzo’s psychedelic visuals swirling on a mesh backdrop behind me.  

This is the first time I've played a Deep Mind Music set out where it felt like everyone was totally dissolved in the music. There's times where it's more appropriate for ambient music to wash into the background of conversations, such as in a chill out space at a rave, but for what I'm aiming to do with this music, I feel it connects more deeply with total absorption into the sound.

I realised there’s three Pete Namlook tracks in this mix, which is a strong indication of how much his music means to me. Including an all time favourite, ‘Calm Box’ which he made with Atom Heart in 1996 as Jet Chamber. It sounds like gently pulsating orbs of light flickering in an infinite expanse of darkness. Pete is a truly incredible artist, whose otherworldly music has touched the lives of so many people. A spirit our world is lesser without, RIP. If you don’t know Pete Namlook’s music or amazing label FAX, I couldn’t recommend having a dig highly enough.

I have to say, I’ve been feeling kind of disconnected from the world this past month. Introspective and far away. Ambient music is something I retreat into when I’m feeling insular, and it means more to share this mix now than when I recorded it in September. I hope this mix gives you a space to breathe, to dissolve into a hologram of sound, and carry you through whatever you’re going through. 💙

There's a scant amount of planning that goes in to these other than maybe an overarching idea of what we want to start and end with, and maybe a couple Discogs links for reference points mixed in. But that is literally it. We trust each other, and we're confident we can do it, and do it damn well. As always, she's on the audiences' right, I'm on the left, and we go one-for-one the entire time. No escape!!

This recording from October of 2019 at OHM in Berlin is her and I opening the party from zero and doing six hours of tension building hypnotics. Many thanks to the @patternsofperception crew for allowing us to do this, and for letting us use the Rane 2016 even though you've never touched one before.
