In 1995 simple tracker software got the interest of the two friends Daniel and Ricardo. Thus, they decided to produce a few tracks.
Both shared a common passion for all sorts of different musical styles, which made their early productions very diverse.
Through the many influences of artists from New Order and Depeche Mode to Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Moby and the various techno disciples
of this multi-faceted time, the two of them produced everything they enjoy, be it trip hop, electronica, breaks or techno.

However, in 1999 the two of them went separate ways for reasons of diverging careers.
They quickly lost touch to each other until the contact ceased completely. Yet, the two of them still wished to produce music.
This is why both of them kept working with synthesizers, music software and studio technology creating their own tracks.

In 2003, it was coincidence that brought them back together.
The two friends met again at a small local electro party and soon realised that they still shared the same interest for electronic music as they had four years earlier.
After a few sessions in their domestic living room studios they decided to make more of their hobby and, thus, started renting their first studio in 2005.
Microtrauma was born.

In 2007, Microtrauma had its first release “Wake up“ on the Elected Tunes label. Their first own release “Collar EP” soon was to follow.
Microtrauma has developed its own style from almost ten years of working and tinkering as well as its many influences: melodic, dark, technoid and minimal.

Each episode features an anthropologist or two in conversation, discussing anthropology and what it has to tell us in the twenty-first century. This podcast is made in partnership with the American Anthropological Association and with support from the Faculty of Arts & Education at Deakin University.

Karl Fraunhofer is fluent in the languages of machine music. He’s a synth whisperer, a savant in the studio and a pretender across electronic music genres. From his first productions, which touched on the hedonistic heights of Trance to the stark minimal Techno he creates today in the Det Gode Selskab camp, Karl Fraunhofer has a versatile affinity for electronic music.

Born in Oslo, Norway and raised on Jazz, Karl had spent his youth learning to play several instruments.

After school, he enrolled in a sound engineering course on the opposite end of the world in Australia, where House, Minimal and Techno inspired Karl on a path to the producer and DJ he is today. He came back to Norway armed with this new knowledge and started building an impressive studio, which will leave most green with envy. He became ever more eloquent in his musical vocabulary as experience and perfection combined in across a wide palette of musical genres.

The brutalist Techno he made as Dortmund with Florian aka Illstm; the arcade synthwave he culled under his eponymous alias; and the slick minimal Techno and Micro House he makes today with his Gode Selskab compatriots have found themselves on esteemed labels from around the world most notably Teen age riot, Turbo records, Sony Intaly, Vocabula, Ploink, Beatservice and Det Gode Selskab.  

It’s with the Gode Selskab that Karl has entered into the latest chapter of his career and has found a collective and an outlet that can indulge his extensive musical fancies with remixes and releases dotting the label’s young discography. Today they run a studio together with Karl at the helm of the controls and an arsenal of vintage and modern synthesisers and drum machines, gleaning evocative sounds from the future across a spectrum of creative outlets.

Rainbow Serpent Festival has come a long over the years. From a small gathering in a secluded clearing, to an internationally recongnised, multifaceted weekend of dance, colour, expression and celebration. People now travel from all over the world to Western Victoria to experience what some have said is the best outdoor festival of it’s type in the Southern Hemisphere.

For many of the 10,000 plus people that attend each year, Rainbow has become an institution, and annual reunion, a marker in the year that’s looked forward to for months in advance. For others it’s a fresh discovery of opportunity and escapism, a chance to connect with like minded individuals and to celebrate nature, community and harmony. Perhaps the continued success of Rainbow can be accredited to the broad experiences and opportunities on offer.

No longer just an electronic music festival these days you can expect to experience a unique combination of music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation and healing. "While dancing their Dreamings, aborigines spiritually connect themselves to the land and to the Dreamtime. The drumming of feet during the dance draws the earth into dialogue with the dancers, allowing the ceremony to bring the power of the Dreaming to life." The name Rainbow Serpent is distinctly Australian, coming from the Dreamtime creation story told by the traditional owners of the land. Dreamtime stories often vary between aboriginal tribes, however the story of the Rainbow Serpent is special as it is one of the few common to all. The Rainbow Serpent is protector of the land, and the source of all life.

Music has always been a highlight of Rainbow. From the early trance days to the broader musical style of today, one thing Rainbow has never compromised on is the quality of it's acts. With world class décor, roving artistic performances, crazy activities you cant imagine a more exotic sensory mix spread over four days. A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2025 and beyond.

JUST FEEL: From electronica, to house, to deep techno, but always with feeling, Just Her is that special kind of artist that holds an innate ability to move your feet and heart in equal measure.

JUST GROW: With one foot firmly in the DJ booth after cutting her teeth spinning vinyl in sweaty back rooms, and the other in her fast developing producer and songwriter career, Just Her has already carved out an impressive back catalogue on world class labels including Anjunadeep, Crosstown Rebels, Global Underground and Armada, achieving a wealth of Beatport chart positions, an Essential New Tune on Radio 1 and high profile press features in the likes of DJ Mag & Mixmag. Also establishing herself as an accomplished remixer, Just Her has deconstructed tracks from key players such as Armin Van Buuren and Lane 8, crafting them skillfully into her signature deep emotive cuts.

JUST COMMIT: A self-confessed multi-tasker, Just Her has not only found the time and skills to study for a Masters Degree in Music, but also to establish her own brand ‘Constant Circles’ - a unique concept in which music & contemporary visual art are combined, with successful label parties across the UK & Europe and art exhibitions in Brighton and London. Alongside the label she also hosts two successful radio shows, self-syndicated to a number of platforms worldwide, including the highly regarded stations Frisky & Proton, as well as heading up a successful music & art blog that is rapidly gaining an underground following.

JUST THRIVE: Despite the restrictions of the pandemic, the last 18 months could have been Just Her's strongest to date, with a string of solid solo releases including stellar debuts on Circus, Culprit and Renaissance, garnering a wealth of support across the industry, from Eli & Fur, to Sasha to Icarus. With this output came huge gains in traction on the gig circuit, with stand out performances at Warm Up Festival and the 10000 capacity Anjunadeep Open Air at Drumsheds in London, plus a bucket list moment of handing over the reins to Sasha and Digweed in her home town of Brighton. Never one to rest on her laurels, Just Her has seen a roaring start to 2022 with her widely acclaimed four track EP on Anjunadeep, soon to be followed by debut releases on fast rising imprint HE.SHE.THEY and Nick Warren's Soundgarden. The start of the year also came with a spectacular touring schedule of shows across the globe including USA, India, Australia, Mexico, with no signs of slowing.

JUST LOVE: With kindness and compassion at the forefront, Just Her is on a mission to make the industry humble again and the world a happier and more peaceful place via those moments of euphoria on the dance floor, through killer hooks, emotive melodies and strong lyrical messages. It's what the world needs more of right now. After all, will we ever learn to just love?
