A regular contributor to the finest dance music imprints of the underground scene, Simos Tagias makes a welcome debut on Meanwhile with his 'Euphoria' EP.

Bursting onto the scene in late 2012 and early 2013 with a clutch of releases on Modu and Lynx Records, Simos Tagias has overseen a career path with a steady upwards trajectory that has since seen some 400 production credits to his name. Indeed, Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music have all played regular host to the Greek artist’s work, not to mention successful releases on Cid Inc.’s Replug and Aly & Fila’s hugely successful FSOE.

Now opening his account on GMJ & Matter’s ever-growing Meanwhile, 'Euphoria' immediately impresses as a collage of elements fly across the sonic spectrum while a clicking ambient effect and grooved percussion provide dance floor character. Building in effervescent fashion, reversed synth motifs vie with delicately delayed phrases as a plethora of spot effects swim enticingly around the listener’s head. Winding up after a dizzying breakdown, the third movement carefully combines all the elements introduced in the earlier stages through a mind-melting melange of frequencies that pitches and falls in an innovative wall of sound Phil Spector would be proud of.

'Emotion' is a high-octane offering powering forward with chest-thumping kick and immaculately syncopated percussive groove. White noise infused synth motifs soon fill the sonic spectrum as a rapid-fire 16th note bassline carries the melodic elements with ease. Full of emotion and beautifully flowing synth lines, the track reaches its musical zenith at the breakdown before hitting its stride in the second half where all elements converge in lay lines of raw power and emotion.

This record is a heartfelt journey, with tones reminiscent of John Denver, capturing a sense of warmth, honesty, and value. The entire album is a special dedication to a dear childhood friend, Dennis Brooks of Newbrook, Alberta, who has passed on. These songs were written in his memory, celebrating a friendship that shaped a lifetime.

Produced by the talented Laurence Wayne Mehlhorn of Century One Records, who also penned each track, 'Forward Motion' is an album we hold very close to our hearts. We are sure Dennis would have loved this record.

This is for him, and for everyone who carries a friend in their heart. We hope it brings you as much comfort and meaning as it brought us to create.

24-year-old Brisbane based Angharad Drake (ang-harad) grew up on Australia's famed Sunshine Coast, where she began writing music during her early years of high school. Influenced by the stylings of Feist, Laura Marling and Bon Iver, she began to develop her own individual style during her university years and recorded a self titles debut EP in 2010. Since then she has completed two more self produced EP's (2013's Lay Down, and 2014's Swing), all in preparation for her debut full length album, Sword. Blending a mixture of folk storytelling, lullaby melodies and atmospheric harmonies, the album infuses subtle influences from Folk virtuoso's like Laura Marling, Jose Gonzalez and Joanna Newsom, whilst managing to maintain it's own distinctive sound.

Drake employed the trusted hands of the production team at Sountekmona, following a series of self-produced EP releases which experienced cult success and saw her work hard in the local folk scene. Now working alongside producer/engineer Samuel Joseph, and with her band (Alexander Mitchell on bass, Declan Kenrick on slide guitar and Alister Murray on drums), Drake has now begun working on her next album release with the lead single 'Baby' out now.

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
If you can't spot a trend in my current likes it may be because it is diverse. I love listening to all my playlists which contain tracks that I like and if you like any of the music you must thank the artists not me.
