Guy Contact is the alias of Perth-based producer and rising star Callum Chute.  Specialising in his own contemporary brand of hardware-focused progressive house, Guy Contact has been hard at work refining his sound since his EP ‘Liminal Space’ dropped on Butter Sessions nearing the end of 2019. The result is a unique and unquestionably cohesive sound palette of pulsating grooves, trance-like overtones and blissful pads - all wrapped up and raring to energise any dancefloor. Following a run of stand out 12” EPs on the likes of Coymix Ltd, Haws Music and Craigie Knowes, Guy Contact is also plotting a follow up release on Butter Sessions due by the end of the year. With quality output to boot in 2021, Guy Contact is commanding the attention of local and global audiences - evidenced also by recent and inspiring contributions to both esteemed Amsterdam based Oddysee mix series and home grown stalwart series Melbourne Deepcast. Callum shared some thoughts and a guest mix for episode 129 of Passing Notes.

After a year & a half of mixes, I’m humbled and excited to see animix hit number #50 with this banging, get-me-back-to-the-club mix from local icon Simon TK. Looking back, it’s warming to see how animix has spanned an amazing array of artists, styles, locations and moons. 

Simon TK ( @simon-tk ) has been a mainstay in the Naarm/ Melbourne scene for a long while now, playing an integral part in some of the city’s most loved and important musical institutions, such as Skylab radio and the recently launched vinyl imprint for the long-standing Waxo Paradiso duo/ collective, and Club d’Erange.

An incredibly talented DJ, Simon is a musical chameleon, somehow shining in every different style and mood he pulls out of the hat. His versatility, skill and dedication to community has left him with a well deserved respect amongst the Australian musical community, and his taste and bubbly vibe are just the cherry on the cake.

Although somewhat a new kid on the block when it comes to producing dance music, Maara has been shifting gears in the scene and is killing it on all fronts as of late. With a killer debut EP landing on NAFF Recordings earlier this year, followed by a recent follow-up on Daniel Rincon run record label ISLA, her productions hit the sweet spot between the ethereal ambience of hazy afterhours ecstasy and tripped-out techno leanings. Wasting no time, Maara dives deep into a propulsive assembly of proggy house delights, blissful trance grooves and hypnotic techno, as she supplies our latest mix and we catch up to hear the latest.
