Nestled in the trees at Sonic Cockatoo, Archie set on his first aural excursion in 2023 utilising the freshly setup studio, with many sonic adventures ahead.

Over the span of 2 days while wrangling the epic set up / recording, we created many great moments, but the only session that was captured in full is this 1 & 1/4hr jam.

This recording was one of the first we have managed to capture the essence of the Archie's sound, using multi track recording with from a new powerful mixing desk.

Sound wise, this jam is a bit more on the chilled side of Archie, exploring a slower groove but still attaining all that psychedelic sparkle. Flavours of Krautrock, Synthwave, Doom, Psychedelia and Noise Rock are throughout the journey.

This is a quick mix of this session, to get a taste of Archie's first session back together since the first part of 2023. We will release a refined final version of this jam with a better mix, Cockatoo atmos tracks and overdubbed vocals!

Archie Jones Obscure Overlords is a Melbourne based collaborative concept, more guitar focused sonic experiments focusing on signal path manipulation, along with synths, drum machines and loads of effects!
Many members will come & go, one-off collaborations, but the key focus is minimal prep & maximal jam show down, 1 take with no or minimal post production.
