Aftermath

Third step : after recording the previous tracks, I felt I had to go in Fancelia's small village in the upper Saramaka land (Suriname), with all studio equipments in order to record Seketi singers in their own community. This track is one of the 23 songs we made in 1 day. All of them were mixed and mastered by Benjamin Matthieu for Road Studio (Lille, France).
Many thanks to the singers : Fancelia, Ileina, Ndjuka Muie, Atooline, and of course Claudia Kwasiba, Captain Alimbo, Sayu, Basia Kobi and all my Saramaka community. 

It is about Seketi traditional music and culture, from marroon Saramaka culture in Surinam and French Guyana.

70% of the sales wil be refunded to the small Saramaka village in upper Surinam river named Goddo, where my new family lives. The money will be used in order to develop and preserve the community.
The 30% will go to Prince Koloni's Fondering association, which has contributed to develop music in Amazonia for 15 years.

An album will be recorded and released in the upcoming years. Help us to make it sound great !

03 - Ollie's Seketi : Kampoe draft mix

Second step on my way to Saramaka cultures : my personal research leaded me to Fancelia Kwasiba, a seketi singer who came first until my house to record this song, surrounded by her daughter and friends. I tried to play guitar on the same structure than for the previous track. No mix, no mastering, just a pure musical meeting.

It is about Seketi traditional music and culture, from marroon Saramaka culture in Surinam and French Guyana.

02 - Ollie's Seketi : Room draft mix

Here is a draft I started when hearing an old woman singing in a smartphone. So far, I haven't met with her, so I made the whole song with this 92kbps acapella. This version was specially made for a dance performance over slavery and its abolition.
