Guiding Star Orchestra is a collective of musicians from Copenhagen area in Denmark. The vision manifested itself with a small group of musicians (including some well known Danish jazz players) inspired by the spirit of original roots reggae music and their dream of gathering all the musicians needed to record songs live and direct simultaneously in the studio. The album was recorded in 2016 over a period of 8 days completely without use of digital technology. When you record without possibility of post-editing and cutting, you have to focus on the most important thing - which is the vibe. This has been philosophy of all recording sessions thus far and in the future. This album contains 12 instrumental, heavily jazz influenced roots reggae riddims with full horn section backed with dub versions.

Dub Encounters Vol.1 It’s our first release for 2018, works that arise between the connexion of producers Lo-end Dub & Dub Troubles and the singers Supa Bassie, Tunelon Iration and Burian Fyah. This new reference is a showcase which explore the sonic universe of reggae/dub, 6 tracks formed by two original songs “Musical Warrior - Tunelon Iration & Burian Fyah ft Lo-end Dub”, a modern rub a dub production style with the imprint sound of the producer and “The Road is Tuff - Supa Bassie ft Dub Troubles” and a more edgy track halfway between rub a dub as well as a dark UK style stepper. Vocal tracks are followed by the analog dub versions and the rework on the productions in a completely new way.
Available the 9th of January 2018, on Spin force’s Bandcamp, mainstreaming service, and digital download outlets.

Introducing the second release in the dub conductor digital dubplate series!! Nano dub was made in our Marseille studio in April 2019. The track features a bass guitar sample which has been distorted to create a really wild and deep sound. It's a real skanker with 1000 different snares, plenty of authentic percussion and a 'womping' repetitive upper bass lick. The versions take the listener into multiple different dimensions with their excessive use of  phasers, panning, echos and reverbs, all mixed and performed live in a real dub style.

Nano Dub Part 1 (DCMDIGI002A1)

This track is a tribute to Vaughn Benjamin (Midnite/Akae Beka). I recorded it in the days after his passing last year. Its a reworking of the Midnite track "The Eyes Are The Light" from their debut album "Unpolished". The flute follows the melody of Vaughns vocals from the same song and then goes into part of the melody from the song "Propaganda" from the same album. The music of Midnite and later Akae Beka have been a huge influence on me and I feel blessed to have seen them perform live on several occasions and to have met Vaughn on a trip to the US some years ago. Hope you enjoy.
