Composed in 2014 for Michael Alfera and the L.A. Choral Lab by Jeffrey Bernstein (ASCAP) and dedicated to the memory of my father. "The Human Journey" is the central movement, the Credo, of a five-movement, five-composer, mass project entitled "Missa Urbem Angelorum". This is a MIDI realization.

I believe this version of events (Yo créo)
We are spirit beings 
On this human journey,
Spirit from spirit, (espíritu)
Light of light, (luz)
Our true home is elsewhere. (hogar)

There is spirit in everything:
Our beautiful Earth,
The garden of lovingkindness,
Where we are called to ease each other’s suffering. (Jesucristo)
By some impulse each of us Chose a human birth,
A place on Earth, a family.

Shaking and shimmering 
We descended into time, (descendído en el tiempo)

Choosing a life on Earth 
Each of us chose to live, 
To suffer and to die. (morír)

Our dying is a beginning, (comiénzo)
Our journey away from Earth (viaje)
Our journey home.
