Through The Fire

The curious case of Captain Kirk

Oh, the curious case of Captain Kirk, renowned throughout the fleet,
For beaming up from alien worlds in garments not discreet.
For every time he sets foot down on planets far and wide,
His shirt becomes a casualty, torn up, ripped, or fried.

The quartermasters scratch their heads, perplexed beyond compare,
As Captain Kirk returns each time in clothing worse for wear.
"I swear, I don't know how it happens," the captain pleads his case,
"It's just bad luck, I tell you, in each and every place."

From diplomatic functions to surveys of unknown lands,
The captain's shirt is always at the mercy of alien hands.
It's torn by thorns, it's singed by flames, it's shredded by one or other.
And each time Captain Kirk returns, his body has less cover.

The crew they laugh, the crew they joke, about the captain's plight,
But deep down, even they admit, it's quite a curious sight.
For no matter where he goes, or what he's meant to do,
The captain's shirt is always torn, a mystery so true.

So here's a wish for Captain Kirk, may time improve his luck,
And may his shirts remain intact, no matter here he’s stuck.
But ‘til that day should come around, we'll watch with bated breath,
As Captain Kirk goes boldly forth, and risks his shirts to death.
