Downhill Skiing

I'm proud to introduce my first ever EP album.  This collection of 6 songs written between May 15, 2022 and June 30, 2022 tells the complete arc of a long distance love that didn't work out.  From dreamy love songs to country-blues sadness and resolution, it's got it all.  

1:  Long Distance Lullaby - watching through a screen as someone you are falling in love with sleeps.
2: Make My Dreams Come True - a question and answer to a love
3:  Love For All Time - sounds like Disney, sounds like a soundtrack, a beautiful love song
4:  Strawberry Parfait:  an island vibe with a reggae beat, it's a pop song about new love and all the things you want to do together
5: Hard To Love -  an old school country-blues vibe complete with sax when you realise things aren't going to work out because you're "too hard to love" and he isn't going to love you anymore.
6:  Glass Shards - just acoustic guitar and vocal, a country-Americana song resolving that the relationship is over and maybe you fell too fast, too hard, but it gave you hope you hadn't had in a long time.

I make music because it is where I let go of the have-to’s, and become part of something larger than myself. The language I speak on the keyboard when I improvise expresses a part of me that only comes out there at the moment of creation - when I’m fully connected and in the flow. In those moments when I disappear in the music, those are where I’m most fully alive. The musical question I pose to myself when I play is largely this: how can I release my inhibitions and let go of patterns sufficient to bring something entirely new, unexpected, and enlightening into the world, with structure, precision, clarity, and depth of expression. These pieces are meditations that are of me, but more precisely, they come through me. When I’m in the flow, I’m channeling the energy and only moderately directing it. The challenge is to be open to take risks while maintaining a structure, melody, and tempo that makes it interesting and satisfying enough to keep listening. I keep doing this nightly because it’s a language, because it’s a connection to something greater than myself, and because it’s very very relaxing.
