I'm speechless. This is extraordinarily beautiful.

Awarded second place at the Sibelius Composer Awards 2007, this piece was performed by Ensemble Offspring, conducted by Roland Peelman at the Sydney Conservatorium in July the same year. The Mountain is a suite of short pieces representing chapters of a nursery rhyme-inspired story:

The happy travellers must head past a mountain to reach their destination. Little did they know that man-eating ogres dwell within. The travellers get captured and taken into the dark mountain, and eaten. Then the spirits of the travellers wait for their turn to become ogres, so they can eat enough humans to be relased into the afterlife.

The track featured here is the final movement/ piece in the suite, and represents the travellers spirits lingering in the caves of the mountain.
