Happy 2023 everyone. I hope your year is starting off positive, creative and brimming with potentiality. Mine has definitely begun on a high note, getting to collab with our dear friend Carlos Vivanco (https://soundcloud.com/carlosvivanco-1, https://carlosvivanco1.bandcamp.com/). And after a full year of music lessons with this kind and generous soul, I’m finally feeling quite good about my music theory and piano skills (knowing full well, this is just me happily floating on the tip of the proverbial music theory/musical instrument iceberg). :)

This one in particular (for those of you who might be interested in the specifics) started with Carlos providing an impressively wild drum track, and a warm, rich bass track playing Ostinato in E (I wasn’t familiar with that term at first. But it means playing a singular note rhythm as a foundation for the rest of the song). From there, E Aeolian (or Natural Minor) felt like it provided the nicest fit to Carlos’s stems. I was able to play out many of the melodies you hear in this song with just a few takes, and very minor MIDI note adjustments after the fact. That is exciting beyond words.

So without further delay, I joyfully offer you my first collab of 2023 with one of the coolest folks you’ll find in this grand music community. Carlos and I hope you enjoy ‘The Nine Sentinels of Aeolis’. :)

Paploviante's done it again with Glitter, an intriguing super funky dance track that upon closer listening, plays with dissonance because each instrument is playing in a different key.  It's not that noticeable at first cause rhythmically it all works perfectly, yet when I jumped in to add a Rhodes track over the top, it was clear that Paul and them music is playing with your ear.  So instead of finding a completely different key as Paul so successfully did, I jumped in with one of the synth fills and had a little fun.  What a great track again from Paul, the Swiss music machine who creates and navigates across so many styles so well.  Paul's got a nasty bass line going as always and did such a marvelous job with the tight guitar, synth and electro backbeats.  I've had the pleasure of jumping into about 20 of Paul's great tracks and send a big thanks over to the Alps for his continuing creations for others to jump on. So a new song is out there!
While I'm still waiting for a new guitar that I ordered a long time ago, I thought to spent my time learning new synths... (I'm still a n00b in that field).

I first planned to make a song using the übercool LMMS only, but quickly switched to Reaper DAW (what else...) running on Linux.
I had a computer crash, tech and other problems and finally I didn't create the kind of song as I planned (as usual).
Near the end I couldn't resist to add a line with my old guitar, the urge was too big.
I hope you like the different parts of it. Find the whole song via your fav streaming platform & feel free to share it and add it to your playlist!

FYI, this time I used the free open source, cross-platform Odin2 synth from The Wave Warden and of course Hive from U-He (that goes without saying...)

Sooo.... this started to be another wacky guitar thing that Jeff and I were putting together.   Found an old idea he had sent and started developing it a bit  He went ahead and did a vocal for it which i  was thrilled about.  He then asked me where part 2 was haha.  
So I sat on it a few days while being enslaved in Josh Clary’s music lab.  Talked with Rekha once I was out and let her hear it.  She gladly volunteered to make a 2nd vocal harmony part and I said heck yeah go for it.  
So that was awesome. 
Then it came to mixing these two uniquely iconic voices together-  that was no small feat.  And I'm not even saying I got it right, but here they are. 
This is me doing something - a little guitar I think, production and mix and your two vocalists are the lovely Rekha - Iyern [Fe] and the inimitable Stonerjazz (also on keys &guitar) with a song about what else - we're all done for y'all
