I am chuffed to present my monthly residency on @universalrhythms.radio starting today 7PM UK / 8PM UK alongside loads of great DJs from all over the globe. I feel super inspired as I am basically constantly mixing records at the moment and when I listen back to my mixes I am like: that’s right, that’s exactly what I was trying to do. Congrats Marcel, you are a DJ. Eventually I ll write an essay or a book or a documentary, I have so many thoughts and emotions surrounding that topic. As promised I ve put up a part of yesterdays recording online. I am making it a point, if not for anybody else than at least for myself to come each Friday with an almost completely new selection of tunes that otherwise simply collect dust. Only a fraction of the music I buy on a regular is actually meant for club context. I think there were times when I did so many mixtapes people gently asked me to stop. There are still many mixes of mine floating about. But that’s how I stay sharp and acquaint myself with the music. It’s been my first love too, Pause tapes on my mothers double tape deck compact stero. I always felt contextualising music by putting it and in front and after other music, sequencing , is one of the most rewarding things to do to elevate one’s experience. You need to listen to these together, coming out of this mood into that mood. And your brain and heart follows.

What was I saying? My recording from @hearthamsterdam yesterday is up and I enjoy listening to my jams a lot. Played from the heart to be shared with joy.

I fell in love with Will.Flo's music in 2017 and his 12" Two & Three.
It caputured my heart and my imagination. I am a sucker for artwork and screen prints and mystery and beauty. The groove and the soul reminded me of detroit. It was a love letter to somebody unkown. To a strangers ears, that we are always trying to reach. We dont know who's life we gonna change. 
I kept this 12" like a little secret, smiling at it whenever i saw it either in a pile of records that moved around the room or sometimes spinning its idiosyncratic vibes. Its beautiful when an artist manages to get their vision across but it's not always given that it is going to be heard on the first time around. All we can do is trying to repeat the process and put ourselves out there, for a stranger to find and truly love our soul that we laid bare.
