Bio - With a penchant for rhythm, Berndt (first name Jordan) has been obsessed with percussion from an early age.  Originally from a small town in North Dakota, Jordan began making beats in his teens and took up DJing shortly after. Berndt has a dance-floor-first mindset and brings a certain smoothness that seems to fit anywhere. In 2015, he co-founded Kajunga Records with Ryote, Cloudy Kid, and Private Guy. Together, they’ve been releasing music and throwing one-off parties around the Twin Cities area ever since. Berndt is also co-founder of the label Clave House, which hosts an annual daytime party in Detroit over Memorial weekend called Elixir.

BIO - Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Ross Hutchens aka Lonefront became established as a producer and live PA artist through regular performances at Intellephunk events in Minneapolis. Lonefront represents the cultivation of a deep mnemonic nod, ever-flickering between the speculative future of progress and the drone of decay. Following up the self-released Gradient Descent (2020), Lonefront is set to release on Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records in 2021.

Minneapolis has been a driving force in American techno, and delivered several artists to the world, but back home in the purple city, Centrific is regarded as one of the godfathers. Steve Seuling has been DJing throughout the Midwest since 1998, he's also been throwing some of Minneapolis’ best parties with various collaborators, under the name Intellephunk for the last 20 years. In 2018 he also added co-promoter of the Even Furthur festival to his list to an ever growing list of accomplishments. Centrific is considered one of the cornerstones of the Minneapolis dance music community, and he is just as likely to be seen dancing in front of the speakers, as he is behind the decks. 

As a DJ, Centrific can be called upon in many situations. Whether mixing darker warehouse techno at one of his Intellephunk parties, or spaced out funky jams at his open air Communion Sundays events, he lays down a hypnotic groove designed to lead the listener into the centrifical vortex…

This June Minneapolis imprint Kajunga serves up five tracks of hardware-driven dancefloor electronics from one of the city’s DIY scene mainstays, Heckadecimal.

Titled ‘Critters’, the EP from Heckadecimal sees the Always Human Tapes co-founder explore dissonant tones, warped acid and electro aesthetics throughout. Whether it’s the dense sound design and resonant leads of opener, ‘Bat Silk Stunt’, the creeping discordance of ‘D’etre’ or the more contemplative, wistful tones of ’The Luminous Flesh of Giants’ each track here is refreshingly non-standard dancefloor gear and all the better for it. Even when cracking the tried and tested 303 out, the mid-west producer confidently pushes it beyond what we’re used to.

After a stream of releases from local talent like Private Guy and Cloudy Kid, Kajunga is developing a discography that veers from slick deep house to rousing warehouse techno without skipping a beat and this EP is no different.
