Two hours of shameless jams across the house and techno spectrum! Recorded during my birthday weekend…every year in July, I try to celebrate my birthday at a weekly outdoor Sunday party called “Communion”, which I helped conceive over 10 years ago in Minneapolis.  The party is still operating today as a refuge for sun-soaked beats that can be appreciated without pretension or judgment. 

This year, I played the last two hours to a full house. I decided to slowly build up the tension over the first hour before stepping on the gas during the second. Having friends and family around made for an unforgettable vibe!

While I’m known mostly for my techno output, anybody who has seen me play one of my numerous marathon sets over the years will recognize moments of the evening where things tend to get a bit more funky (usually drink #4). Here’s a snapshot of the other side of my sound.  For those who can’t stand house music…rest assured, Techno will always be my true calling.

Oscar Mulero is a techno producer and DJ from Madrid, in charge of successful record labels Pole Recordings and Warm Up Recordings. He began his career as a DJ at the end of the 80’s in Madrid, in the most experimental clubs of the city and soon ended up playing at the legendary Spanish club New World. In 1996, as a part of famous Sonar festival, the name of Oscar Mulero appeared among the list of international underground djs such as Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills. Since 1998, Oscar Mulero has released four studio albums and over 30 EPs on the labels like Tresor, Token, Semantica and his very own Warm Up and Pole Recordings. Beside this, he has developed a fully audiovisual experience with his “Light & Dark AV Set”, tested live in some of the best festivals around. His alter ego,Dr. Smoke also gained strength during this period as a showcase of Oscar’s open and eclectic vision as a music selector, moving deep into territories such as electro, dub and IDM.

His picks for Bassiani Podcast are pretty much what you might expect from the techno heavyweight, such as Oscar Mulero - an atmospheric, dynamic and moody compositions that keep the hype and energy from the beginning till the very end. Following an intense first 30 minutes, the latter half sinks into even more noisy and aggressive staff capturing Mulero’s special approach to techno aesthetic.
