Hyper capitalism, state surveilance, shifting values, mental health disruptions and loss of trust leads us to a new synthetic ignorance in our society. John Parlsey composed his debut release on @lustpoderosa using his very own interpretation of a post minimal wave synth aesthetic. It came out as magical dark and gloomy four tracker which is packed with immersive rhytms, weird staccato voices, claustrophobic acid lines paired with hopeful melodies. John Parsley is a Swiss/Italian artist from Zurich. He discovered his love of music many years ago, as a drummer in rock bands, then later with the first MPC sampler, his fondness of TripHop and electronic music.  Today he produces mainly electronic music across the full spectrum. Apart from playing as Dub and Roots Reggae DJ, he has never worked as a DJ.  He devotes himself chiefly and continuously to production. With this he is always looking for new ways to lend his feelings expression in music.  Sometimes sombre, sometimes trancelike rhythmical but always in his own style.  From House to Tribe music, in addition dark TripHop and  driven dancefloor killers, he does not let himself be caught up in any one genre.  He does what he feels like doing and what he loves doing. With recurring releases on labels such as NEIN, Sulk Magic, Lustpoderosa, Playground Records, Ombra International or Feines Tier he proves over and over again that his music convinces, without  huge social media presence  or his having to move within the night life scene. He feels most at home in understatement.  What pleases him most is when he is recognized by his music.

There is an old primal feeling which seems to emanate from Aleksandr L. As a youngster he used to love sharing tapes amongst his friends and family: sharing is caring… Maybe music served as some form of escapism to the cold and grey Lithuanian weather?

His next step and natural evolution from analog to digital gave place to a podcast series: Electric Shapes. Another remedy in the form of music which eventually turned into the label of the same name, thanks to his partner in crime Jokios Kulturos’s prolific contributions. The sound of Electric Shapes is clearly aimed at an open minded dancefloor bridging the long gone days of alternative raves with the clubs of today. Amongst a continuous (broken) beat the catalogue is also peppered with some more downtempo and relaxed tunes which are a perfect partner to the end of the night or the start of a new day. The main purpose being to spread the love and bring peace through sound: Music is the cure.
