It describes a tragic journey into a fictional depiction of Konya - a raucous and hostile Anatolian city torn apart by mysticism and conservatism.

The EP explores a landscape of Detroit electro vibrations and dodgy murmurs whilst offering gracious melodic digressions along the way.

After the album 'Peur' and the EP 'Hedge Fund' released in 2012, Gohan comes back with a new imaginary soundtrack on the edge of violence and grace, exploiting harmonic and texture flaws, enigmatic collages and a grinding bassline.

FORZA is Origami Sound’s concept-based EP collection focused on DJ tools and mainly club-oriented music that might not make much sense in a home listening environment. This is not music that you can lounge or have your siesta to.

For our sixth release we turned to UK-based duo Bricks. Tom and Joe have crafted a monstrous four-track release that fits perfectly in our eclectic catalogue of peak time techno tracks. From the jawdropping whirlwind "Reverand" to the entrancing tension-builder "Drama, It feels like this EP has everything. These guys must have it all figured out.

This is collaboration between myself and the hugely talented encym here on Soundcloud, The original idea came from me mixing up one of his tracks up in the iPad app Samplr. Encym then added some texture with his fantastic guitar work, plus some some additions of other stuff we have worked on.

Ken Karter is a new addition to the Stroboscopic Artefacts label, and one who is wasting no time in proving that he belongs on that label's talented roster. With a personal ethos based on the reconciliation of esoteric and scientific aims, it is clear that his music hopes to avoid the blind alley of "either / or" binary thinking and instead strives for a fascinating journey into "both / and" experimental fusion. The label's Monad series, already populated with producers who set their sights on similar artistic goals, provides a very fertile soil indeed for Karter's integrationist worldview and intense sounds.
Ken Karter's breakout release for Stroboscopic Artefacts is Monad XXI, and this in itself is a kind of happy coincidence: this is very much the sound of the 21st century, full of anticipatory tension and darkness, but also a great deal of rushing excitement related to new discoveries. Altogether, these pieces have an effect not unlike navigating through Tokyo on a rainy night: a profound feeling of natural and chaotic processes finding a way to reassert themselves within even the most well-choregraphed technological drama. Each track achieves this special sensation in its own way, with the leadoff MX-01.11 preferring ritually slow kick patterns and an ephemeral scaffolding of dust particles and other 'micro' sonic events. MX-02.11 follows this initiation with the type of headspace-dominating percussive pulses favored by the "clicks and cuts" school, which are here marinated in a mesmerizing tropical heat rather than situated in the austere coldness so often associated with that sound. The third cut on the EP, MX-03.11 quivers with vitality and restlessness, anchoring itself in the listener's consciousness with the help of something like a massive, sliced-and-diced didgeridoo drone, and with a steady rain of percussive artillery fire. It's an exceptional blend of militancy and ecstasy that segues into the likeminded finale, MX-04.11, an infusion of long tones and synthetic splashes once again girded with serious low-end beats.
With just these four tracks at his disposal, Karter shows the potential for electronic music to move beyond what is expected of it, infiltrating new listening environments and inviting new attitudes. As a culmination of the most impactive EDM features from the foregoing decades, and as a harbinger of what still lies ahead, this is a Monad to play loud - and, as ever, not to be missed.

While working on this assignment, I found out once again how incredibly hard it is to do very little: Since music for meditation should allow for emptying the mind. It should not distract. And yet, there should be something there that helps one get into a spiritual, contemplative mood, let any thoughts pass and then, a state of non-thinking, of pure presence.

As a consequence, music for this purpose should/can have several properties:

Modal - which allows a stable, calm state of mind

Quietness and space - making sure the music doesn't overwhelm, neither by quantity nor by information overload

Far-eastern sound connotations - As in many "spiritual" purpose-made music releases, this seems to aid obtaining a certain mood, often by raga-type sounds, or sounds that get used in "puja" ceremonies in India (and heard in yoga/spiritual paraphernalia shops all over in places such as Rishikesh).


Since all of these are optional anyway - and are cliché-ridden on top of that -- I chose to simply use an electric guitar, for drone-like sounds, and after considering sitar-like moves, opted against those (for reasons of economy). Everything got recorded into Logic Pro, with generous helpings of delay and reverb, obviously.
I layered six guitar tracks (plus one track for the chime) on top of each other and tried for them not to get into each others' way too much, to allow for the composition to consist of very little information.

The Wakening Of The Sky [Bliss Version]

A collaboration with a music friend Encym (Roland)  Roland is one of the very few music friends I have had the pleasure of meeting face to face  (at a Tuesday Post gig hosted by the wonderful Georgina Brett). He is leaving London to return to his home city of Munich and the track is developed from some excellent samples that he sent me. These have been  radically developed/played in the app SpaceCraft and using an app version of a  reverb unit - RX950 (I used the physical version of this  on one my first ever tunes about 30 years ago).
